DEAR- Drop Everything And Read

Funded Oct 16, 2019

The impact that this project had on my students is such a positive one.

My students were so happy and grateful that they received new books and reading materials to use in our classroom. Every Monday, my six graders and I have DEAR time drop everything and read. The books that we received Have been used since the day we got them. My classroom library expanded and it's all thanks to you. Having the storage bins for my news books is also a plus. My students have also improved on their reading levels which as a educator is a great accomplishment! The Comprehension Practice Cards are also Very beneficial.

My students and I are enjoying these new resources daily. I love making my students use their imagination and creativity while doing writing activities. Things like the Giant Magnetic Lined Page is honestly a life saver! When doing my mini lesson I use it daily to model exactly how I want the students to write. The Time Tracker Visual Timer & Clock is also a great resource for my students and me as well. It not only helps my students stay focused, I feel it helps lesson the feeling of being overwhelmed. We also do a lot of hands on activities. The resources like the colorful markers/ rollers and the cut out stampers have not only kept my students engaged during some of my lessons but they beg to use them as well. Recently I had my students create Valentine's Day cards for the veterans and your resources came in so handy they really loved and enjoyed creating valentines for the veterans.

Currently my students are working on writing an argumentative essay on which world wonder would they would want to preserve. I thought it would be informative for them create a country brochure on which country the world wonder was located in. With the help of your supplies and support and guidance, my students exceeded my expectations and created beautiful projects.

None of this would have been possible without your donations. Thank you once again for spreading positive learning energy to my classroom and my students!!”

With gratitude,

Ms. Leonard
