  • Art Does the Mind Good

    Funded Apr 2, 2024

Thank you so much for your generosity. My students were really excited for all the goodies you provided for our classroom. But by far, my class was most excited to use the BIG box of different color markers. There are so many markers in this box! Everyone that needed to use a blue marker was able to use a blue marker! After state testing in the mornings, having art materials such as construction paper, glue sticks, markers, and crayons, made our art filled afternoons a little easier and not to mention fun!”

  • Writing Does the Brain Good

    Funded Nov 28, 2023

My class and I would like to extend our heartfelt thank you. You have been so generous in donating to make our classroom a better place. By helping e provide notebooks, paper, crayons, markers, and pencils, you give my students the opportunity to have different types of notebooks/ paper when they are working. The younger students have notebooks to write and draw within the same page. They use the thicker pencils and color using "Colors of the World" crayons you helped provide. The older students can choose grid paper to work on their math problems which helps them organize their their work space to solve their calculations.

We are forever grateful for your generosity and can't thank you enough for helping our classroom become a welcoming, inclusive and safe space for my class community.”

  • What'cha Reading?

    Funded Oct 19, 2023

Our classroom is so thankful to our very generous donors. We would like to extend our heartfelt thank you for funding the "What'cha Reading project?" You have bought our classroom wonderful books that enrich my students' lives. These books provide a cute story line with well loved characters that teaches students to think about the stories they are read aloud. These books open a little window to introduce critical thinking skills, helping students develop not only a love for familiar book characters but they make personal connections with the own lives to the story line.”

  • Calming Area

    Funded Feb 13, 2023

Thank you so much for your generosity. It is truly appreciated. I have used the classroom calming corner many times this school year. It gives the students a chance to de-escalate when they are having a difficult time.

In this calming corner, we have posters to remind students to use calming techniques, such as "triangle breathing" or "5-4-3-2-1 Grounding" Technique. They have the ability to look for a stuffed toy if they need a buddy to hug or they have a choice to watch colorful bubbles within a soothing toy. Lastly, there are reading books or coloring books to help students concentrate on something else while allowing them to "cool off."

All these tools help create a safe space for all students when they need some time to decompress from a stressful time.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Jacqueline Garcia

  • Organization Is Key!

    Funded Aug 1, 2022

Thank you so much for your generosity toward our classroom. The organizational materials you provided have been such a wonderful addition to my student's lives. The pouches make their lives so much easier. They keep their materials (pencils, markers, erasers and crayons) in one place. This teaches my students responsibility, as they have to take care of their supplies.

The rings have made things easier, as it helps keep supplies together. My students working in the "blue" group have their materials organized by the blue rings, etc. I do this for every group color. This has made my life easier in the classroom.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

  • This Teacher Needs to Keep Learning

    Funded Aug 9, 2022

I would like to extend my gratitude to you for your generous donation to my classroom. These professional development books have been a wonderful addition to my personal growth as a teacher. I teach students who have a neurobiological difference, such as a reading deficit like Dyslexia. I was able to receive 4 books that are highly regarded in the reading teaching field. Uncovering the Logic of English is like a manual where is teaches me how to explain the English rules. I have some students that are very logical thinkers, and learning these rules makes sense to them when reading. If I teach these rules to my students, then English doesn't seem so illogical. The second book, Structured Literacy Intervention has become a favorite book, because it helps me teach students with reading difficulties. It gives me a wealth of ideas on how to differentiate my teaching for each student. The third book, Speech to Print by Dr. Moats is such an in depth, comprehensive look at how speech to print evolves from speaking to writing. This is a book that teaches teachers how to use evidence based literacy instruction in the classroom. Last but not least, How to Differentiate Reading Instruction, has been great in helping me generate a basic lesson plan format with some suggested ideas on how to begin teaching my small intervention groups. I am truly blessed that I have access to such wonderful resources.”

  • Bare Necessities!

    Funded Nov 10, 2021

Words cannot express the heartfelt gratitude we feel towards you. You have given us a wonderful gift, the gift of generosity. What you provided to our classroom may seem basic, I mean... how can black ink, color ink, color paper, or regular copy paper be considered anything but basic? BUT let me tell you, it makes SUCH a difference in our little classroom.

Students are learning because they are engaged! Reading articles with colored pictures is an added benefit. It makes teaching more fun when students are "into" learning and that is what I like to call, "the little stuff in life that matter." It brightens up our day...literally and figuratively.

From all of us in room 24, we thank you.”

  • Write On!

    Funded Jun 10, 2021

Thank you so much for your generous donation. Because of your generosity, our classroom was blessed with lined white boards as well as colorful white board markers.

Last year, during distance learning, most students had unlined white boards. Having unlined white boards lends itself for students to write uneven sized letters. Some letters were big while others were small. I saw a need with my students. I knew that having lined whiteboards was going to be essential when we got back to the classroom. Many students needed help with letter formation. Having these tools in the classroom, helps students keep their writing organized in a straight line.

We are eternally thankful for your thoughtfulness and generosity towards our classroom.”

  • Colors of the Rainbow

    Funded May 4, 2021

Thank you so much for your generous donation to our classroom. Your generous donation helped our classroom acquire a few colorful items such as ink for our classroom printer, dry erase markers, and highlighters.

First, having the ability to print in color is amazing! Everything is better in color. Students are able to add pictures to their stories when they print them. Their work looks amazing when they are displayed for others to see. It brings a sense of pride to display students' colorful work in the hallways. Color ink makes all the difference in the world for my students.

We also acquired dry erase markers and highlighters. These are essential for our daily work. We use the dry erase markers everyday to practice on the white boards and we use highlighters to highlight important information when reading stories or highlighting key parts in word study- such as root words. We are eternally grateful.”

Most of my students are hardworking students who don't have access to the Internet at home, so they don't have the chance to access technology or play educational apps. I am a Resource Specialist Teacher who finds one of the toughest parts of my job is to keep kids interested in learning. Most of my students have learning disabilities, so if I can bring in a high interest piece of technology, like the iPad then they will be excited about learning without even knowing they are learning. Lots of times, children with learning disabilities need extra opportunities to practice skills that need to be reinforced through high interest materials. So if they have that precious second chance with me in my classroom, it makes up for crowded classrooms with students overpowering one another to gain access to a lone computer. I am an advocate for these students, and while I may not have a child for the whole day I consider them mine. I am most concerned with their success academically and in life.
