  • Getting Organized with Seat Sacks

    Funded Sep 14, 2018

Thank you so much for funding my project to get seat sacks on all twenty-five of my students' chairs. I can't express how happy I was to check my email and see that this project was funded.

Organization is everything in kindergarten. An organized classroom allows me to be a better teacher. When I started the school year, the students' desks were a mess with papers, books, and pencil cases shoved in them. It was a shame to see some books already bent. The delivery of the seat sacks allowed me to teach the students how to better organize themselves. Having the seat sacks helps to prevent the kids' books from getting damaged. The students love their new organization tool. My classroom looks great and it is due to your generosity!

This is a gift that I hope lasts a few school years. Thank you for supporting my NYC public school students!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Adamson

  • Keeping Kindergarteners Healthy in a Clean Classroom

    Funded Aug 31, 2018

Thank you so much for contributing to the health of my kindergarten classroom! It was so exciting to receive the delivery of the Bounty paper towels, Clorox wipes, and Kleenex tissues. My colleagues saw all of these supplies and thought I went shopping at Costco. I said, "No, I've just been extremely fortunate to be helped by wonderful people from Donors Choose."

I told the students that we learn a lot by making messes, but it is all of our jobs to keep the classroom clean. We have been getting a lot of use of the paper towels, and luckily you gave us a lot of them! The common cold season has started so the tissues have been put to good use, too. I use the sanitizing wipes to clean the doorknobs and tabletops after the children leave each day to keep our classroom fresh and germ free (or at least limited) each day.

Thank you for supporting my kindergarten classroom in Queens, New York. We truly appreciate the kindness.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Adamson

  • Flexible Learning - Bringing Yoga to the Classroom Library

    Funded Dec 11, 2012

I cannot express how THANKFUL I am for your generous donation to my students. The yoga books and materials are used every single day in our first grade classrooms. I have been teaching yoga to 150 first graders each week, and the donated materials are encouraging students that they can be independent learners. They are thrilled to discover more about yoga through books and the yoga cards. They love reading about new yoga moves, breaths to either calm or energize themselves, and stories about people doing yoga.

In our persuasive writing unit, we also discussed the power of writing a letter to help solve a problem. The kids related to our problem of not having yoga books, and are encouraged and amazed that you all agreed and decided to support yoga in our classrooms. It was a thrill to open the box filled with brand new yoga books!!!

My school's first grade student population is mostly comprised of English language learners. I wish you were able to see the smile on their faces as we explore new yoga moves. As an educator, it is wonderful to see students who sometimes struggle in class SUCCEED! Yoga is a tool that provides my students an even playing ground. Regardless of language proficiency, we all are masters of certain yoga moves. Truly, we appreciate your generosity and hope you know that there is a little more laughter, flexibility, and exploration going on within the classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Adamson
