If you have ever seen a 5/6 year old you understand why we need flexible seating. Sitting at wooden tables and chairs off and on all day is extremely hard for adults but for young children its not only hard but developmentally inappropriate. When learning new material my students learn best when comfortable. Exposing my kinders to the joy of reading is so much more exciting in a rocking chair. Writing why you think every day should be superhero day just sounds more realistic using lap desks and comfy seat pillows. Learning is suppose to open your mind and body to new possibilities so why do we still expect our students to sit in outdated seats and chairs. With the addition of flexible seating in our classroom you will be giving my students choice, in a world where they are constantly told no you are telling them yes. In a space where they are told they have to conform you are telling them,"Be you". Most importantly you are telling my kinders that they matter and you believe in their potential.
