• Discovering Color through Light

  This is an amazing surprise! We have been looking at color to communicate. We have mixed colors with paint and crayons and read about them. Now we can discover more of the science behind light. Light tables offer so many opportunities to wonder. I am so excited to get started. The tables will be used in 2 classrooms - double the impact!”

• Back to School - Beyond the Basics

  Thank you for your generous support for these basic supplies. Our class was able to show their creativity and be ready to learn at all times.

  I chose to show you photos of our Market Day. The students created signs to describe their items, list prices, and advertise.

  The classroom was well equipped to create anchor charts, schedules, and vocabulary walls throughout the year because of your donations too.

  Finally, on a more basic level, I didn't have to beg, borrow, or steal, anything from the secretary this year! I knew my supplies of markers, pencils, glue sticks, scissors, and folders were ready to go.”

• Time for Kids Informational Reading

  Thank you so much for providing us access to more informational text. We were able to research using multiple sources. We read the articles in our Time for Kids magazines and then researched the topics more using digital resources.

  Our informational paragraphs were so much more complete.

  Not pictured in the upload were our searches through the Time for Kids magazines for the different text features that help us understand what we're learning. Having a physical resource instead of using only digital reminded the students that there is more beyond Google!”

• Learning Through Inquiry With Snap Circuits

  Thank you for your generous donations providing Snap Circuits for our class. We were able to see energy transfer and further understand these scientific concepts. The best part, we were able to invite our community into the school to play and learn with them too! We taught them some pretty cool ways to show energy transferring.

  The photos unfortunately escaped me that day, but these photos are great examples of other discoveries we made during that unit.

• Build Student Stamina With Classroom Flexible Seating

  Funded Aug 12, 2021

  You helped my students get back into the routines of school with flexible seating. We learned routines and expectations to choose and share seating that meets our individual needs. Students are able to move without disrupting others. They have more stamina just like we planned. As we came back to the classroom, recesses were longer and lessons needed to be shorter. Content did not stop. Small adjustments like seating options, allowed us to add minutes to our work and still get moving.

  Thank you for your support. We could not have done it without you. Students next year will continue to benefit from these options. They've already visited and said, "This is the cool room!"”

• Build Conceptual Understanding With Manipulatives!

  Funded Aug 12, 2021

  You provided math manipulatives to my 4th grade class. We were able to make abstract concepts like place value and fractions more concrete. Students showed a deeper understanding and were more engaged in the lessons when I was able to provide practice activities with these materials.

  The fraction tiles allowed students to visualize and compare what a fraction actually is. Often, when students have to draw or cut out fractions, the pieces are not equal. It is difficult to get an accurate comparison for sizes. With the tiles, students were able to hold the pieces. This hands on experience is so valuable.
