Styling While Onboard!
Funded Dec 1, 2020This new technology has helped my students greatly. In the beginning of the year, my students had an extremely hard time dragging, pasting and writing in their assignments. Students were able to use the styluses to participate in hands-on activities by clicking and dragging. Their writing assignments have grown deeply. They struggled with the tablet keyboard. Students were able to connect their bluetooth keyboards and now are typing up amazing pieces of work! My special needs students and ENL students were able to overcome their obstacles of completing tasks with these new tools. They now enjoy working on the tablet at home and in school.”

Funded Jul 13, 2020Thanks to you, my students had all the school supplies we needed to start learning off immediately. Those students who remained remote, were able to pick up their supplies for their online learning. My students and parents were completely surprised when they found out they did not have a supply list this year, as many families have faced hardships. My students' eyes lit up like a Christmas tree when they walked into their own tote of supplies the first day of school. My students find it a struggle with technology sometimes and having that opportunity to be able to write it down and take a picture to upload has helped them with these hurdles. We are currently in a project based learning project regarding landforms. Students have everything they need, from scissors and glue to markers, crayons and colored pencils to create their own 3d landforms projects at home and in school. This would not be possible without amazing donors like you!”

Funded Sep 6, 2018Technology is one of the most important tools we need to have in the classroom. Technology is used as a gateway to help prepare my students for the real world. This technology created a fun way to address challenging curriculum.
My students' eyes lit up when they saw the Eggspert for the very first time. They were extremely intrigued by the glowing eggs on their table. The first time we used Eggspert, the students were reviewing a touch place value unit in Math. They played a Jeopardy style game to review the concepts they needed for their end of unit exam. The Eggspert turned the game into a fun competition that included cooperative learning. I am currently introducing my students to Shared Reading and answering multiple choice questions. I felt I was not getting a true reading of their answers because they are sitting in their rugspots. The Plickers were very exciting because we use QR codes to login for their interactive reading accounts. When they found out that the cards will be used to answer the questions and my co-teacher and I can see their answers by scanning their cards, they were super excited. Plickers created a new way for them to answer questions without using pen and paper.
My students who English Language Learners and Special Needs have warmed to this new technology. They have extremely warmed to the the Plickers because it gives them an opportunity to share their answers and ideas without raising their hand. The cards encouraged class participation. The Eggspert also has enhanced class participation for all students. They love when they can light their egg up faster than others and be prepared when they are randomly chosen.”

Get Your Flex On!
Funded Sep 7, 2018My students are using their flexible seating throughout the entire day. During Reading Workshop time, students are given the option of sitting anywhere in the room or at their seats. Students with special needs are offered the seating options first. Most of the time a wobble chair is chosen. The class has set an independent reading goal of 30 minutes. My students, especially my students with ADHD have been able to meet that goal.
We first received the materials when the class was in a special. When they came back our library area was brightened by our new flexible seating options. The bands were placed on the desks for the students with ADHD. All of my students eyes lit up and couldn't wait for the opportunity to use one of our new seats. Within 20 minutes, some students were utilizing our new seats and even challenge the amount of independent reading an writing time. One student with ADHD grabbed his desk chair and replaced it with a wobble chair. He grabbed the blue one because he said it was his favorite.
Our students are currently working on a project based learning activity where they will create a fictitious 3D map. The students will be doing research and writing about their maps they created. Students will be given the opportunity to use our seating in our reading center to research maps and to write about their map. Students will do an oral presentation to enhance their speaking and listening skills and to help build better comprehension within our Social Studies map unit.”

Let's Get Interactive!
Funded Dec 19, 2010I cannot express my gratitude enough. Having this netbook in my classroom has provided an amazing experience for my students.Since our netbook arrived, my students have been able to explore many things. They were able to travel to China using Google Earth and research information about Africa. The information they gathered is helping them create a range of projects from posters to All About books. To help boost their reading and math skills, my students go online to various websites. They enjoy reading online books on their reading level and practicing their math through interactive activities. Being able to present a lesson using the netbook and the mimio has made the lessons more exciting.
My school is in a low income area, where many of my students do not have technology in their home. Due to the cutting of budgets, our school lacks the funding to provide updated technology. Thanks to your generous donation, my students have the ability to experience a whole new learning environment.
The excitement on my students faces were priceless when I opened the box of our new netbook. If only you could have seen their faces. Words cannot explain how much your generous donation has changed the way my students experience learning. Thank you for adding that glimmer into their lives. Your thoughtful donation has truly given them something that many of them may never experience outside of the classroom.”
