I have 65 high energy, funny, and comical third graders. We are in a public school in the inner city of Cincinnati, Ohio. My students have hard working parents that want the best education for their child. While many students have moms or dads that want the best, they do at times live in a state of change. The school has a high transient rate. Parents move often so the students attend several schools in a year. My job as a teacher is to not only prepare them for fourth grade, the state test, but also life. As third graders this is the first year they will take a state test on the computer. Third grade is required that they not only take the test but must pass in order to be promoted to the fourth grade. This adds a stress layer for an 8 year old child. My goal this year is to relieve part of the stress by making writing a normal everyday occurrence so that when the test rolls around they are not only prepared but will like showing others how well they can write.
