Funded Feb 17, 2023When kindness is shown to my kiddos it makes me feel like I can be everything they need in terms of pushing for their success. In a classroom where you know students may not have the resources they need most times to bring a snack or make it through the day or weekend without nourishment it can be daunting but donors always come through for us. When the boxes arrived it was the topic of the day until the boxes were opened and the contents were revealed, oh boy. Being able to make bags for my kiddos to take with them on Fridays and to have during snack time has been such an amazing feeling. Grateful is such an understatement when it comes to my kiddos being able to grab a quick snack if they didn't get breakfast.
Using the gummies as rewards/incentives for answering questions or doing nice acts of kindness is another way in which we utilize our treasure of goodies. The kids get such a kick out of going to the snack closet to choose their bounty. The full effect was not felt until they saw the snack closet organized and taking a trip inside to fill their little brown paper bag and it not costing them anything-one of my kiddos said that it was the best free grocery store he had been in, lol. No one has to feel sad or embarrassed that they don't have a snack these days or canceling snack because only 40% of the class has a snack.
Parents acknowledging that their student couldn't stop talking about going into the snack store, to the point they wanted proof it was real, is just a testament of how important your donation was to our cause. It is spreading beyond our classroom and causing parents to volunteer to help out when we run out. One act of kindness can go beyond a lifetime with my kiddos and we are grateful for donors like you who make that possible.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Ellis-Johnson
