As a first year teacher I do not have everything I need to help my students be as successful as I would love for them to be. My students range from different disabilities but one thing I have learned they all have in common is they all learn well using different types of manipulatives. I have added two math toy sets that I can use with all of them to learn how to count and add. Mara's box counting and the Counting Bear toy set will be great to teach my students to match manipulatives with numbers and how to add using the objects. I will use the puzzles to help my students create patterns and stack various pieces into interesting creations and to promote creativity for my avid builders and imaginative minds. The Michley Interlocking Builders Blocks Play Set for Child will give my students the opportunity to stimulate their imagination and learning skills while encouraging discovery, fine motor skills and open-ended play Half of my classroom consists of Autistic students who love to always be moving. I know the fitness balls will be great for them in the classroom to provide dynamic sitting opportunities for my students. In every lesson we do in my classroom I always integrate art given that children with autism are so visually oriented, it makes perfect sense to engage them in art activities which is what we would use the paint, brushes, construction paper and glue for.
