Research Through Technology
Funded Jan 13, 2016When the Chromebooks were first delivered to our fifth grade classroom and were opened, the students were in awe and full of excitement. They were so happy that they couldn't wait to use them for projects and different activities.
The Chromebooks have been an energetic addition to our classroom. They have been an extremely cherished tool that has reinforced instruction and stimulated a new collaborative culture in my classroom. The Chromebooks allow me to carry out rigorous and engaging lessons that increase student participation and learning. They have also provided my students with the 21st century technology they will need to be competitive in the future. They now have the technological opportunity to study, research, and explore things they can't see every day, in our own classroom. My students are thrilled about our continuous access to the Internet with the Chromebooks. This allows my class to understand that life is more than just the four walls of the home or classroom. The Chromebooks have had a huge impact on the academic development of collaboration, writing, and problem-solving in our classroom. The students are becoming more confident in their learning skills and are taking ownership of it effectively.
It is simply heart-warming to know that donors like you share and support a common vision for ensuring the academic thriving of children. I express my most cordial and genuine appreciation to each of you for treasuring education and teachers. Without your support, I could not have afforded it!! Thank you for being an immense supporter and for standing by me in fulfilling my personal commitment to my students.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Gonzalez
This classroom project was brought to life by Disney and 23 other donors.Science, Technology, and Research: Animal Ethics
Funded Mar 9, 2016Thank you for making a positive investment in the learning prospects for my 5th grade students! We are thrilled and greatly appreciative of your donations toward our five Chromebooks. They deepen our educational accomplishments. My 5th grade students are mesmerized with all the features that this technology has to offer. The Chromebooks are used on a daily basis for our reading and writing lessons, as well as Mathematics, Social Studies and Science research projects.
Thanks to your kind donations, my students can now access a myriad amount of on-line resources, articles, and videos to gather evidence to support their opinion and ideas about their research project: Is It Morally Acceptable to Experiment on Animals to Develop Products and Medicines That Benefit Human Beings? My reluctant readers are now more motivated to read more because of the Chromebooks. In addition, many of my students have now learned how to use the Chromebooks to access Google Docs to create published writings, and complete differentiated tasks for their individual portfolio. All students can also access Go Math and Cool Math interactive student applications. These applications provide them with interactive games and lessons tailored to their individual level of mastery in math objectives.
When introducing the Chromebooks to my students, I began by demonstrating all of its features, login, and where to locate the apps . Once the actual hands-on exploration took place by the students one of them said, "This is nice Ms.! Chromebooks are way better than regular laptops!" Other students immediately agreed to the statement and the conversation led off to other technologies they have been exposed to in this new highly technological world. The use of Chromebooks as a classroom tool has authentically supported the curriculum within the NYC DOE.
I am thrilled that my Donors Choose project was fully funded, and that its outcome has impacted high student motivation and achievement in our classroom. My learners have not only profited significantly from the asset you made for technology in our classroom, , but they have excelled because they know that people outside of their school care about their future, and want them to be successful. My students and I are very grateful for your support, and we thank you for the difference you have made in our lives. Again, "THANKS!"”
With gratitude,
Ms. Gonzalez
