  • Building Skills That Are Crucial in School

    Thanks to you, I was and am able to purchase the worksheets I need for my students. With your help, I was able to get them properly screened in reading comprehension according to their grade level, assess their reading grade level and assess their writing. I am excited to now have the funds necessary to purchase more worksheets that will help them meet their educational goals.   • Printer for Speech

    Funded Nov 12, 2019

    Thanks to your wonderful donations the speech room finally has a working printer!!! We are all so excited, as we are finally able to print integral materials, such as worksheets, student essays and test prep materials.

    Our students are super excited to utilize the printer as well. Many of them do not have printers (and even computers) at home, making it difficult for them to complete assignments in a timely fashion. Now, they will be able to use the speech room printer when they need. We are hoping this will help their grades improve, as they will be able to complete and submit work as soon as possible.”

  • iPad for My Speech Students

    Thanks to all of you, my students now have an iPad to utilize during speech and language sessions! We have done an abundance of research, looked up definitions for difficult words, wrote letters and used some speech applications! The students love using the iPad, as it is something tangible and electronic, and not a paper or pencil/pen. After the first few days of using the iPad, I noticed some students had difficulty researching for information on google. They had no idea what to write, what to look up, and where to look! The iPad is so useful because it helps my students prepare for the future.”

My students are amazing middle schoolers that work hard in school. With this Ipad, my student scholars can utilize speech and language specific apps to work on their reading, writing, communication and even social skills. They can use it to surf the web and research for future writing assignments and/or projects. Notes can be taken on the iPad, a book can be read, and I could record my students for speech improvement strategies (playback) and documentation. The iPad can also function as a positive reinforcement to entice students to work and reinforce appropriate behaviors during the speech and language session.
