Our Special Education students have impairments such as specific learning disabilities, autism and emotional needs which impact their ability to access the general education curriculum without additional supports. The students need additional supplementary aids, modifications and supports to access grade level instruction and make progress towards achieving current IEP goals. Students learn better when concepts and ideas are presented and taught using manipulative tools, which allow a visual, hands-on learning experience for them. This hands-on approach can help to solidify concepts in long-term memory and will allow the opportunity for improved retention of concepts and academic procedures for the students. Because our students will be starting their 20-21 school year virtually and without the tools they need to access their grade level curriculum, these kits will allow them to access the materials needed and to be able to interact during synchronous learning.
