Funded Nov 12, 2018Thank you soooooo much for your contribution! This couldn't have come at a better time! Winter is here. Today there were many students who arrived at school without a warm jacket. These fleece jackets will warm those who most need them, especially over Winter Break. Thank you so much! Happy holidays to you and yours and may the new year be filled with many blessings!”

Funded Nov 12, 2018I am so thankful for your generosity. My students will be grateful, too. Many students arrive to school hungry, and your donation will help nourish them when they need it most.
I am looking forward to receiving the snacks you funded that will be distributed by our staff at our Wellness Center. Students look forward to the snack break our Wellness Center staff coordinate between our 1st and 2nd block periods. These snacks help students stay focused until their lunch break. Thank you for your care!”

Funded Oct 17, 2011The impact that the document camera has made on our classroom continues to unfold on a daily basis. I had not anticipated how this tool would revolutionize learning in my classroom. The immediacy it lends is very powerful. For example, students can share their writing immediately with the entire class. This has deepened the sense of community that students share as writers in my classroom. I now have beginning English learners clamoring to share their latest writing. The class is able to demonstrate their knowledge of the finer points of writing. Walk into my classroom, and you will see recently arrived immigrant students explaining why someone needs to insert a "flying comma" in that sentence---while another student reminds the class that the proper term is actually "apostrophe."
I know that the acts of reading and writing are inextricably linked, but I was not able to make it literally apparent until the gift of the document camera. Now we can move easily between the close reading of a text to written interpretation of the text with evidence. This tool makes instruction much more robust and engaging.
This tool has provided multiple opportunities for my students to share their work with each other, provide feedback to each other, read aloud to the class, and to act as teachers in their own right. We cannot thank you enough for this generous gift. ”

Community Garden Project
Funded Sep 22, 2010We want to express our appreciation for your generous donation to our ELD classroom. The books about seeds, plants, and gardening that you purchased for our classroom have been very useful. They have served as a bridge to the 7th grade science textbook, which proves challenging for Beginner English Learners. The "Root Vue" project has made learning about plants an exciting hands-on experience. The seeds that you donated have been sown by the students in our community garden. The students have delighted in the work, and are very proud of the progress the garden is making.
At a time when our school is experiencing deep budget cuts, your generous donation has made a world of difference for the students in my classroom. For recently arrived English Learners, building background knowledge, developing schema for new content, and participating in rich language experiences are key to their success. Thank you for providing the opportunity to develop English Language among my students in such a meaningful and strategic way.
