  • iPad, Technology, Learning, Oh My!

    Funded Aug 23, 2014

My students and I can't thank you enough for your donations to fulfill this project. The excitement on their faces when I told them that the IPAD minis were ours to keep and use in the classroom was priceless. My students couldn't wait to help me with the IPAD setup, deciding on a login passcode, and then discussing what kind of apps we should download.

They were so considerate, keeping in mind the various levels of each other that they made sure there was Pre-School applications for my students to learn the alphabet, as well as higher level applications for other students to use. Many also had to make sure that I was going to download First In Math and Reading Eggs so they could sit on the floor and play instead of sitting at their desks on the laptops or at the desk top computers in the back of the room.

Thank you again. The difference in my students interest using different applications has increased and I can't wait to see how well their academics improve throughout the year.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Borasky

  • Peace and Quiet during Guided Reading

    Funded Sep 13, 2014

My students and I can't thank you enough for your donations to fulfill this project. The excitement on their faces as I unpacked the Hokki Stools and the Chair Socks was priceless. My students couldn't wait to try to put the socks on their chairs themselves. It was tough but they did it!

The first time we did Guided Reading and no one had to drag chairs was absolutely amazing. We were able to get so much more done without wasting time moving chairs. The children love the stools and now can't wait for Guided Reading!

    Thank you once again!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Borasky

My school is in a low-income area with a high ESOL population. I specifically teach 2nd grade with ESOL students who are beginners, Special Ed students who don't know their alphabet, and Regular Ed students reading anywhere from Kindergarten levels to 3rd grade levels. Many students knew no English just two years ago and now are just about at level. They all want to learn and have fun doing it. Technology of all sorts seems to be the way to go.
