  • The Materials I Need to Succeed

    Thank you for your continued support for students and their education. Your support allowed my students to be prepared for continuous learning on a daily basis. When the students saw the notebooks, pencils, class pencil sharpener and other supplies they were more than thrilled. The gratitude, smiles, and excitement displayed meant so much to me, just as much as the supplies meant to the students. One of the student said to me " now I don't have to stress my mom out trying to figure how she was gonna get me supplies." How can your heart not drop. My students immediately put their new supplies to use and continue to use them daily. I must say it's nice for my students not to have to worry about anything except learning.

    For so many years my students had to worry about bare necessities, and for so many years I would have to purchase supplies for 6 classes so they'll have the essentials such as paper, pencils, folders, notebooks, pens, etc.. I am so glad that you guys saw a need and provide so much help and invest so much for our children to get a quality education.

  • Math At Our Hands

    Thank you thank you thank you for your generosity, the laptops you provided for my students made a great impact on the teaching and learning in my classroom. The students are eager to enter the room and use the laptops to complete their lessons. In such a short time we have created a technology center and established rotation schedule to provide every student with a opportunity to access technology (Prior to having these laptops it was quite difficult to provide my students with regular access to technology). Within the first full week of use my students have completed over 50 hours of online instruction and activities to enhance their mathematics conceptual understanding . Students use the laptops in small groups to complete math labs through investigation, complete online assignments and quizzes and for remediation with personalized online tutor. Students are able to use devices to go back to prior lesson and current lessons and review instruction at their pace to build lesson comprehension.

    The laptops were exactly what we needed and could not have came at a more perfect time to ignite the spark of learning back into my students. Instead of them always relying on me to answer questions they now actually use the laptop to investigate and discover (which is more valuable and meaning to the student than the teacher always providing). I, myself as the teacher didn't know what to expect when I made the request on DonorsChoose.org, but let me tell you the excitement it has filled me with when I read the letter with tears (of joy) in my eyes stating my project has been fully funded, the passion I have been re-ignited with in planning my lesson now with the everyday

    use of technology and seeing the joy put back into learning when I watch my kids work and learn. This has had a significantly positive impact on two of my newest students, who are also new to the country and the devices as allowed them to longer feel "different or isolated" they use the laptops to learn in their respective languages as well as learn the English language to communicate with their classmates.
