The One With Books for Upcoming Holidays
Funded Jan 26, 2025THANK YOU so much, for your part in making this project, complete! This project, "The One With Books for Upcoming Holidays!" - is a such a hit! Students LOVE having the opportunity to hold and read these great new books! Each student received a copy of the book, Frog and Toad, to kick off Read Across America (on pajama day)! The Disney classics were so popular too! Students were familiar with most of the stories, but others were new to discover. The other writing tablets and other holiday books were popular too.
Now my lucky students have more choices when the desire to read develops. This is so very important, as many strive to meet their reading goals. Plus, they now have renewed interest and respect in taking care of their books, and all books - including those in the classroom library.
Since I teach in a high poverty area, I can only rely on friends, family and strangers for support. This is why your help is extremely appreciated, and really makes the difference! Special thanks to Panda Express, and The DonorsChoose Community for making all things possible! THANK YOU for being our classroom angels and advocates, and for helping my second graders get these amazing titles!”

Funded Oct 27, 2024Thank you for your important support towards this project, "The One With Drones Because the Sky is the Limit!" We are so happy and excited to receive these innovative and STEM materials! My students absolutely loved the hands-on and entertaining aspect of these tools. We have been reading and learning about technology and inventions. So having these cool drones were a wonderful addition to this unit.
The drones were so popular and engaging...and I loved that each and every student was enthralled and amazed! Having the multiple Q9s sets allowed many students to have a turn with the remote control. When I showed them the HS600 drone, they were amazed at the difference in size and speed. These drones really got my students to think big, and helped to expand their horizons!
Thank you to United Airlines, DonorsChoose, and everyone behind the scenes who make funding projects like this possible!”

Funded Dec 25, 2024Thank you so much for your generosity and help in completing this project, The One with Books about Diversity and Celebrations! Our classroom is so excited to get these extra special books! Now we have stories about Lunar New Year, other countries, delicious international foods and cultures, and a variety of diverse leaders. This wonderful selection offers opportunities for my students to feel better connected and accepted within our classroom and their little worlds.
School is time to learn and work, but I also want my students to experience acceptance and to celebrate their unique differences. These books help provide just that for my students. Each book provides a look into different people, cultures, and celebrations that my students can see themselves in, and better connect. My students absolutely LOVE the new selection of books!
The materials from this project will be well used and appreciated for years and years to come! THANK YOU for being our classroom heroes! Special thanks to DonorsChoose and Panda Express for your wonderful support.”

Funded Feb 20, 2025WOW! Thank you each and every one of you, for your amazing gift towards this project! Because of your amazing support, my students will be receiving much needed decodable books and materials for intervention support. There is nothing too exciting about these materials, yet they are SO precious and important for young readers who may be experiencing delays with their reading development. This project is especially meaningful to me, because the team of donors represents six different states: AK, CA, IN, MA, NJ and TN! Thank you for being advocates for education and for your willingness to be citizen philanthropists for my high needs classroom. :)”

Funded Sep 18, 2024Thank you so much for your important gift towards this project, The One With Writing Supplies and Postage Stamps! My students LOVED using these materials to write! They were excited to see the variety of stationery options and colors to select from. The stationery was so appealing, compared to the standard lined-paper they were used to using.
For this lesson, my students were allowed to pick anyone they wanted to write a letter to (except me), and express kindness and/or appreciation. Many chose a friend in the class. A few wanted to write a note to a parent or family member. One chose a yard supervisor. I also told them that I would NOT be reading and or grading them for this activity, and to write what they freely felt without concern for spelling. I wanted to respect their privacy, so only took photos at the beginning stages only.
They were so excited and engaged with their letters, and a few excitedly started to hand it to the addressee/friend. But I asked them to wait...and then I pulled out the coordinating envelopes. There was another round of enthusiasm! They were thrilled to get these qualify, and matching envelopes.
My students still need a little more practice with letter writing, folding the stationery, and neatly addressing envelopes. In May, the plan is to write letters for Mother's Day with the floral stationery. Then in June, students will write letters to themselves in June that I can stamp and mail out in the summer, to be received right before 3rd grade.
Thank you for your wonderful gift, that builds friendships, spreads kindness, and inspires writing.”

Funded Dec 4, 2024THANK YOU so much for your part in making this project, "The One With Phonics Materials and Backpacks!" - a winner! Nowadays, students access stories and books via their Chromebooks or online. Instead of actually reading, they are often simply read to, and it is hard for some to develop their reading muscles. This is one reason that a handful of readers may be delayed with their development. However, having these basic sounds/letters materials and games have made learning more interactive and engaging. They LOVE having the opportunity to use the pictures as visual cues to provide a boost of confidence with their reading.
Also, the backpacks are often needed this time of the year. Now, some backpacks have broken zippers and/or are ripped. Having this extra stock on hand ensures that students can keep their materials organized from school to home, and back to school again.
Since I teach in a high poverty area, I can only rely on friends, family and you for support. This is why your help is extremely appreciated. THANK YOU all for being our classroom angels and advocates, most notable The DonorsChoose Community for the generous match!”

Funded Jan 4, 2025Thank you for your generous support towards this project, "The One With Holiday and Engaging Resources from TPT" - for gift cards to Teachers Pay Teachers. TPT has allowed me to access additional learning opportunities focused on holidays, cultural celebrations, and more!
TPT materials helped add a variety of lessons about both Dr. Martin Luther King and Lunar New Year. Next, I will also be able to offer engaging lessons about Presidents' Day, Valentine's Day, and other upcoming holidays. We can continue with more fun activities and projects for Read Across America, Mother's Day, and more. These are just a few examples of how your gift impacted us. Your donation added innovation, variety, and engagement to our classroom.
Thank you for being our DonorChoose star and hero! Your support as a corporate donor is so very appreciated.”

Funded Nov 22, 2024This was a very special and memorable project to show kindness and appreciation to various adults that work on our campus. The lucky recipients included yard supervisors, custodians, office support staff, and a few other staff members. Each student wrote a little card with a message of appreciation on behalf of the class. They decorated and personalized the card for the recipient. Then they worked as elves to help package and deliver a treat bag to an adult on campus. Let's just say, that there were a lot of smiles and hugs today! The recipients were so touched by this kind gesture! These adults do not get sweet letters and notes that classroom teachers often do, so they were so pleasantly surprised. Many got teary-eyed - both adults and students! It was a busy and eventful week, but an all-around memorable experience for all.
My students were able to grow hearts of appreciation, share kindness, and learn that happiness comes by giving to others too.
Thank you to YOU, for your important part in making this all possible! Especially during this magical season, I am so excited that my students were able to take a moment, to express and give thanks to others that make them happy and safe in school.”

Funded Dec 3, 2024Thank you for your important support towards this project, The One With An Inflatable Movie Screen! This gift helped to bring so much happiness and excitement!
Our school hosted a family movie night so an inflatable movie screen was a must! Students and their families brought chairs/blankets, and set up on the blacktop to watch a family movie. Families were able to watch a movie, under the starry sky! It was such a memorable night! Best of all, this movie screen can be set up again and again for future use. So many families mentioned what a great time they had - and we are definitely planning for more! The tarp is a great addition! It was delivered a bit late, but we plan to lay it under the screen next time to keep it in tiptop condition.
Donor stars are so important! While some classrooms receive parental donations, this is not the case with all communities. For this reason, any support is truly applauded. Thank you to DonorsChoose, The DonorsChoose Community, and citizen philanthropists, for your amazing and continuous support!”
