  • Rondos, Ragtime, and Rhapsodies on Recorders!

    I want to thank you for the recorders that my class has received. Having recorders for my class has changed my students' understanding of music and their ability to express themselves, and I appreciate that your company has taken the time to improve our school through the music program.

    Students are learning how to read music in the treble clef through songs that they learn on recorder. They also can transfer this skill to other instruments, and it'll be especially helpful to them if they choose to join band in middle school.

    Students have also been improvising their own songs with the recorders. It's been very exciting to see and hear the students explore tone, rhythm, and pitch on their own through recorder!

  • Xylophphones are as Easy as Do-Re-Mi-Sol-La

    The xylophones that your donation has provided has revolutionized my classroom! My students are always excited to play xylophones and many more students are able to play at a time. Thank you so much for this generous contribution!

    My students have learned how to care for these expensive instruments and now we are playing drones often in class. Students will play rhythmically on the instruments while we sing and dance. Students are also learning how to read music by playing short melodies on the xylophones.

    I think the best thing that the students are doing are composing their own melodies and improvising. Students are able to express themselves using these xylophones, and that, I think, is the greatest gift that you have given my students. Thank you so much!”

I teach general music to kids in kindergarten through fifth grade in a Title I school in a large metroplex and large district. My students love the time they spend in music class, and look forward to their music day every week. Students sing, dance, play instruments, learn music history, compose music, and much more in my class. I also teach a choir and instrumental ensemble as an extracurricular group with fourth and fifth graders. However, our students need a lot of supplies! Musical instruments and other supplies can get very expensive. We hope that through DC, we can help students in our school get the supplies that they need to be successful. We want our students to have great experiences in music, and having good instruments and other supplies help them learn more and have a lot of fun!
