  • Diving Into Woodwind Instruments With Recorders

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

Thank you so much for bringing more music to my classroom! The students are so excited to play the recorder, and they can finally do so thanks to your help. It's especially meaningful to me that I can bring this important part of my curriculum alive again after having to change so much due to COVID. Thank you from all of us!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Foster

  • Recorder Masters Start Here

    Funded Aug 12, 2021

Thank you so much for giving the gift of music to my students. Recorder is a really exciting instrument for my kids, and I’m very grateful that they get to experience learning recorded safely without worrying about the cost or about COVID. I look forward to a wonderful year full of sound and fun, and I appreciate that your donation is making that happen.”

  • 5th graders Need to Make Music Safely!

    Funded Dec 1, 2020

Thank you so much for the donated resources! They were received and used with so much gratitude.

COVID-19 made teaching and learning in the music classroom much more challenging this year. I definitely did not realize before this year how many materials and supplies the students share. Without the supplies that you provided through your generous donations, the students would not have had the opportunity to create and perform instrumental music at all. They were so happy and enthusiastic about using the instruments in class. We had a great time and the kids were able to keep learning, thanks to your donations.”

  • Proof of Our Learning Is in the Recording

    Funded Apr 2, 2021

Thank you so much for the recording equipment! I just cannot wait to set it up and go for our test run. My students will finally have a way to record themselves and hear what they sound like! I’m so excited and grateful for the tools to take on this new level of learning in my classroom.”

  • Safely Singing in a Post-COVID Classroom

    Funded Sep 3, 2020

Thank you so much for the HEPA air purifier! We received on the first day of school, and it has run daily in our class since then. The students think it's really cool, too!

We feel so much safer knowing that we have this added safety measure in place. The air purifier is also so quiet! It doesn't distract the students, and I don't have to shout to make myself heard over it.

My students and I really appreciate you donating this expensive piece of equipment to our classroom. Life during this pandemic has definitely been challenging and uncertain for my students and me, and we really appreciate that we can come together and make music safely. Thank you for giving us this opportunity.”

  • Music-Go-Rounds Make Our Lesson Go Round!

    Funded Oct 18, 2019

Thank you so much for the Music Go Rounds. Before the pandemic, my students had a LOT of fun unboxing the materials and using the Music Go Rounds to create rhythms and melodies. I had started to use them in my lessons to show all sorts of things!

The students learn more because the Music Go Rounds make it so much easier to present concepts on the board quickly. Students and I can improvise and compose just by sticking these clings up on the board, instead of erasing and writing. It's also so much easier for my kinder and first grade students to interact, instead of being frustrated or passive.

I can't wait for my students to come back safely and use these materials again. Thank you for contributing to my classroom in such a meaningful way.”

  • When We Wobble, We Can Focus!

    Funded Dec 16, 2018

Thank you so much for donating these wobble stools to my classroom. We have used them a lot! Students can select to use them during stations, and some students use them every day during regular instruction. Many other kids ask if they can sit on "the cool purple chairs" so I try to save one to be a rotating seat for different kids.

The seats have made a lot of difference to some of the kids who truly need them. A homeroom teacher shared with me that a student who has trouble focusing in his other classes mentioned that "Mrs. Foster's chair helps me pay attention in her class - maybe I could find one for my other classes!" Some of the kids just need to move to be able to focus and pay attention, and the wobble stools have really helped me keep those kids engaged in my instruction and has helped them keep participating with focus.”

  • Singing with Harmonious Organization

    Funded Dec 11, 2018

Thank you for your generous donation of the choir folders! The students have loved using them so far. They are grateful for the organization that you've added to our lives. Now, instead of shuffling around for stacks of papers in backpacks or on a classroom cart, the students come and can get to work quickly. The folder also comes with a pencil holder, so the students don't even need to worry about finding a pencil for marking their music!

The kids also appreciate that someone cares enough to donate supplies to our classroom. They asked me specifically to tell you how excited they were to open the boxes and how much it meant to them that someone was thinking about their needs.

We are so incredibly grateful! Thank you for making our choir program that much better!”

    With gratitude,

  • Keeping Our Ukes Safe and Sound with Gig Bags

    Funded Oct 1, 2018

Thank you so much for the ukulele cases! My students appreciate them a lot. We received the boxes during the school day, and some of the students in class were very curious, but I promised to open the boxes during Ukulele Club only. When we opened them, the students gasped and shouted. They were so excited!

I labeled each ukulele case with a number, which was then assigned to a student per ukulele group. This makes the beginning and end of lessons a breeze - we have so much more time to play when we don't waste a lot of time sorting through ukuleles and "Which one is mine?" problems.

The students also know that their ukuleles are safer. Since the ukes are in a case, their tuning is more stable, and we spend less time tuning and more time playing! We also don't worry about accidental damages from the instruments being unprotected. We put them away carefully and know that they will be in great condition again when we return.

Thank you again for this donation - it has really helped my ukulele students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Foster

  • "Uke" Can Help Us Be in Tune

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Thank you so much for the ukulele tuners! They have really helped my ukulele students become more independent musicians. My ukulele students this year meet once a week to learn how to play the instrument; they have already learned how to tune the instrument by themselves! Not only does having a tuneful ukulele make the students enjoy ukulele more, but they are also more confident and feel more independent. They appreciate this tool very much, and I appreciate how much time and musicianship it has given back to our group.”

I teach general music to kids in kindergarten through fifth grade in a Title I school in a large metroplex and large district. My students love the time they spend in music class, and look forward to their music day every week. Students sing, dance, play instruments, learn music history, compose music, and much more in my class. I also teach a choir and instrumental ensemble as an extracurricular group with fourth and fifth graders. However, our students need a lot of supplies! Musical instruments and other supplies can get very expensive. We hope that through DC, we can help students in our school get the supplies that they need to be successful. We want our students to have great experiences in music, and having good instruments and other supplies help them learn more and have a lot of fun!
