My fourth grade students are from low income families, many that live in single family homes. For most students, English is not the choice of language at home, yet they are asked to learn and produce in English. They are hearty children with a zest for life and learning and aren't discouraged by the walls that loom ahead of them. They flourish in active, buzzing rooms and love to participate. They are not afraid of being wrong, they know they are the hope of their families and are willing to risk personal ego in order to take a great leap in academics. They dream great dreams. I want to be able to help them reach those dreams.
