Exceptional Learners, Exceptional Readers!
Funded Aug 14, 2023Thank you so much for the resources for our classroom. Magic Tree House is a fantastic series to draw in struggling readers. The kids have devoured them, and share their favorite ones with friends. Some of the copies even have a waiting list! These books are so much fun, and they help them feel like all of the other kids that can read big chapter books in their grade level. The kids were so excited to open the package and start leafing though these books.
After Christmas break, each students will get a different Magic Tree House book and do a book report. The students are going to present in order so that we can have a summary of the series. I have never had so many students asking to do a book report in my career. They are excited to hear what happens in the series, but also to share their part and create a material that represents their book.
I also received word family books so that I can really work with my struggling readers in small groups. It allows for more than one student to read at the table because as one is reading, the others can follow along. The resources have been a game changer for my classroom. I cannot thank you enough for helping to provide reading materials that my kids actually ask to read, instead of just trying to be invisible while holding a book.”

Funded Jul 12, 2017Thank you so much for contributing to our classroom. It makes all the difference for some kids to have a safe spot, and making one in the classroom that is there for them everyday has helped so many of my students already. My students that do not use these materials for emotional reasons, use the pillows to sit comfortably and explore their books. They also love to show off their reading skills to their reading buddies (the stuffed animals).
When we opened the packages, my students were so excited. Each child had to hug and love on every stuffed animal and pillow. They have named every animals, and every student has their favorite. Some of the animals are hugged and loved while reading, and a few have been a shoulder to cry on, or something to squeeze tightly and put their anger into. They are making a huge difference.
Thank you for taking the time and money to invest in my kids, and their emotional well-being. Right now we are using the tent as a hiding place for a few students, but they are using it less and less as the class becomes more comfortable with each other and accepting of each others way of expressing emotion. It has been a great place to escape for my students and a great discussion piece for us as a classroom community. Thank you, again!”
