Glow Baby Glow
Funded Nov 25, 2021Thank you for the super-quick funding of this project in time for our GLOW SHOW!
The students painted self-portraits using phosphorescent UV activated paint. They painstakingly painted a layer at a time, waiting overnight for it to be completely dry before painting the next layer. For elementary students, this was quite a practice of patience!
The results are stunning, thanks to the UV floodlights you helped to purchase. They easily filled my classroom with paint activating light. Without them, the GLOW SHOW simply would not have been.”

The Glow of Satisfaction
Funded Sep 7, 2021It is with immense sense of indebtedness that I write to thank you for sponsoring this glow project for my students. I hope that you can see on their faces the pride they have for their self portraits and how much fun they had creating them.
This year we are studying art in a timeline format, and during our unit on Renaissance portraits, we did our own glow painting self portraits. It was a little wacky at first, with our skin green and our hair yellow, but eventually they went with it and learned a great deal about face proportions, looking closely for details, and of course painting slowly and steadily.
I cannot thank you enough for this opportunity!”

Funded Aug 17, 2021My littles were over the moon when they discovered that they would get to build with the fabulous STEM Legos. At first, they rifled through the boxes, just checking out all of the nifty pieces. They found tunnels, swings, wheels, pulleys, and a variety of connecting blocks that are very unique to this set. And of course, they found lots of colorful chunky regular Legos too.
Soon after, they were all busy imagining, testing, and trying out different constructions. Some worked well, some didn't. Without even knowing it, they were going through the steps of engineering. They were constructively problem solving, but it just felt like play.
Thank you so much for giving my students the opportunity to use, and learn while using, these timeless materials!”

Funded May 20, 2021Thank you so much for funding supplies and organization tools for our art room. We are entering the third week of school and honestly, we couldn't have done it this year without you! We had no idea how important individual supplies would continue to be this school year. Thanks to you, my kiddos have everything they need to stay organized and creative, all neatly organized in boxes and stacked at the entrance to our classroom.
All year, we will continue to use what you so graciously funded with a great sense of appreciation in our hearts.”

Funded Mar 3, 2021The minute I let the kids know that we would be able to do a PAINTING unit, they were over the moon. The at-home kids were able to pick up complete sets of everything they needed, and the at-school kids were given things as they needed them.
We already had paints and brushes, but we needed something besides plain paper for our surfaces. We used the coolest fold-together canvases to create moon profile masterpieces that instantly hung professionally on our walls. We used the clear plastic plates to make 3D bluebonnet paintings with an automatic border and shine. We made bead-pull butterflies with symmetry out of the transparencies. And we used up all of our leftover paint in a paint pour abstract creation on paper plates.
I cannot thank you enough for helping me accomplish a painting unit during a pandemic and with both in-person and virtual students.”

Art! Works
Funded Nov 12, 2020The minute I let the kids know that we would be able to do a PAINTING unit, they were over the moon. The at-home kids were able to pick up complete sets of everything they needed, and the at-school kids were given things as they needed them.
The paints we chose aren't acrylics (they're kid friendlier) but they act like acrylics. And the sets came with 18 different colors, which the kids loved. We also got brush sets so they had different types of brushes to choose from and the kids exclaimed "we're real painters now!".
We learned about painting in layers and letting each layer dry completely. We learned about color mixing. And we focused on how painting with acrylics is very different from watercolors, focusing on specific techniques as we went.
I cannot thank you enough for helping me accomplish a painting unit during a pandemic and with both in-person and virtual students.”

Funded Oct 27, 2020Thank you so much for your generous donation of 100 reams of blank, white paper. Each one of my at-home students received an entire ream for the spring semester, while my in-school students have free access to as much paper as they need to express their creativity.
As you can imagine, plain white paper is the basis for nearly everything we do. It is so freeing for the kids to use as much as they need, without having to ration supplies.
Paper seems like such a simple thing, but your kindness affects everything.”

Funded Sep 4, 2020It is with enormous gratitude that I write to thank you for your donation. Our snow globe projects were a resounding success.
The students LOVED using all of the new materials to build their two-dimensional snow globes. They especially enjoyed being able to customize their creations according to their wishes. Some made wintery snow globes; some made fun vacation-style snow globes. A couple inserted family pictures while many created new masterpieces for their backgrounds.
With our budgets being so limited, and the need for individualized supply packs causing prices to soar, your funding makes our art program fun and interesting. Thank you for helping my students love art!”

Ms. Howell
