• Harry Potter for My Book Club Wizards

  Thank you for your generous donation funding a class set of "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" for my Lunchtime Book Club.

  This book was chosen by special request of my Book Club. I was excited that they chose a book themselves. As we read and simultaneously listen to the audiobook, I see my students developing an appreciation for recreational reading. They are learning that reading is not only an academic pursuit, but a personal one as well. They have found that reading can be interesting and fun. In fact, my current Book Club members are enjoying reading so much they are recruiting new members.”

• Lunchtime Book Club: Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry

  Thank you again for funding a class set of Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry. My Lunchtime Book Club recently finished reading the book and the impact on my students was tremendous.

  Through Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry, my students gained a first-hand historical account of racism and discrimination in the South. It was incredible to see my students' reactions to the book as it painted a picture of history that is impossible to get from a textbook.

• Lunchtime Book Club: Mississippi Trial 1955

  Funded Feb 1, 2011

  Thank you again for funding a class set of Mississippi Trial 1955 for use by my Lunchtime Book Club. I can not begin to tell you how much my students liked the book. It brought home the realities of living in the South during the Jim Crow era. My students were so affected by this book that they were inspired to do their own research on the story of Emmett Till. Its not often that such student curiosity leads them to do their own research.

  At the end of the book, all the students wrote up book reviews, discussed the hardships of being African American in 1955 and watched a documentary about Emmett Till.”

• Lunchtime Book Club: American Dreams

  Thank you for funding my proposal to purchase a class set of "American Dreams" to use with my Lunchtime Book Club. My students greatly enjoy reading historical fiction novels that correspond with the eras we are studying. I am excited to introduce this book to my students this spring. • Current Events Bring The World To Corona
