Cooking class in the Great American melting pot. We are an ethnically diverse public high school where 73% of our students belong to minority populations, 46% of our students are socially disadvantaged and 28% are English Language Learners. My Culinary Arts courses (36 students in a class) are a place where ALL students get a chance to try out what might become a career path, but more importantly spend an hour of each day feeling successful, having fun and while they're at it, using industry vocabulary, reading recipes and doing culinary math. Hands on learning and the common core are alive and well in our classroom!
