  • Interactive Virtual Lessons and At Home Experiments

    Funded Oct 7, 2020

Using this technology, students were able to participate in labs in realtime. It made it easier to stream demonstrations for students from the school. Additionally, problems were drawn out for students using Nearpod and google classroom which helped students understand better. Students appreciate being able to follow along when participating in home labs such as ice cream making, elephant toothpaste and cookie making. I was able to make chemistry fun, interactive and relatable during remote learning.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. S.

This classroom project was brought to life by Con Edison and 4 other donors.
  • Bringing Chemistry Home

    Funded Oct 7, 2020

Our students had a successful remote school year. Using Nearpod, students were able to interact with every lesson as if they in the physical classroom. My students enjoyed using nearpod and were excited to know that I was able to see their work in realtime. This program particularly helped students that needed extra support in mathematical concepts involved in chemistry. I was able to recognize and address misconceptions quickly and efficiently for students.

We are truly grateful for your donation!”

  • Stem for Girls!

    Funded Nov 9, 2018

My students and I are grateful for your donation. We have been using these tablets to observe science simulations of phenomenons we would normally not be able to explore. It has been helping students learn science through inquiry.

Students are happy to have the option of having tablets to use in the classroom. Before, students had to share 5 laptops. We can now play review games and explore learned concepts in a virtual setting. The ability of exploring these concepts in the virtual setting allows students an alternative way of viewing concepts learned.

This donation has helped students whom had little to no access to technology in the classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. S.

This addition of 7 Chromebooks will allow me to flawlessly incorporate more technology based learning in my classroom. pHET offers many simulations for students to learn chemistry, but due to the lack of computers I have not been able to incorporate it in my classroom. I want to spark innovative thinking in my girls. I want them to explore scientific concepts in different ways. I don't want my students to feel limited in my classroom. With these laptops, I will be able to use simulations for my student to explore the "what if's" in chemistry. I will incorporate alternative ways to assess my students' learning. I will be able to share tutorial videos and assign advancing activities that incorporate simulations and videos to enhance learning.
