Room Transformations Transforms Learning Fun!
Funded Oct 11, 2023Thank you so much for donating to this project. The students were able to put to good use the stools. It made sitting around the teacher table much more exciting! The headphones were also a big help because our school started several new computer programs to enhance reading and math and many students came without headphones.
The BEST part of the project included all the supplies for MARIO days! These products were used with all of 3rd grade to review for Reading SOL tests at the end of the year. Mario Days were a complete surprise room/hallway transformation. The students had NO IDEA! Teachers were in Mario costumes with each room decorated to represent a Mario game. My room was Donkey Kong themed. They absolutely LOVED it! We did this for 2 whole days!
The items provided really helped to make this year memorable and exciting while getting in the necessary learning and growing. Thank you!”

Keeping up with the TIME
Funded Sep 16, 2020This year, reading looks a bit differently than in previous years. There are smaller classrooms as we are in hybrid learning situation. One thing remains the same though, and that is student's interest in the world around them. My young readers were thrilled to read all the articles regarding the events of the unfolding election in the Time Magazines. These were current events in the world around them. We were able to discuss not only the vibrant text features that accommodated the articles, but have discussions which allowed for expansion of their critical thinking. The article about on Space Junk was not only fascinating, but had the students wanting to go to the internet to learn more.
In the Storyworks Jr. Magazine, students learned all about how a baby orangutan was rescued from the rainforest and the importance of preserving our natural resources. The digital material allowed students to see the organization that was working to protect animals and this prompted various writing submissions.
These are only a few of the examples of how your donation has impacted the learning for my students this year. They love both the Time Magazine and it's current information as well as the Storyworks Jr. Magazine. I am able to use these magazines in person as well as the digital component provided for virtual learning as well. Thank you so much for allowing my vison to become a reality this year with the provision of these magazines in my room.”

Funded Aug 14, 2019Our school did a 5K fun run and what a wonderful time we all had! We had 160 students and parents sign up and participate! The runners loved seeing their time on the brand new timer that you provided. It was great to watch them cross the finish line and yell out their finish times! Several said they were going to try and beat it next year. This will allow them to set some goals and strive to reach them.
Another thing you provided was the banners. These were really large and clearly visible to all. Runners knew that it wouldn't be too much further when they could look down the path and see that finish line. It became a favorite photo spot as well!
The photo booth and tattoos were also a big hit with the participants as well. All of these items you helped purchase were contributors in making a wonderful memory with teachers, students, and their families.
Thank you for giving to help make all this possible!”

Funded May 13, 2019I am thrilled to report on the use of our tablets. The students were so excited to be using them in our classroom. I was able to download several apps that we were able to use. There is a scanner that detects QR codes that can immediately take students to the video that I have made for them to interact with. In addition to that, I was able to put on some math apps that allow students to practice their multiplication facts independently. There are free books that I put on them as well.
The students have been rotating in the use of the tablets. I have selected days for them to use them, if we are not using them as a whole group activity. Several students have really gotten interested in the books and are reading more chapter style books this way. They told me that reading was more fun with a tablet.
One feature that I have been excited about was using them to have the students record their reading. Students can read into the tablet and record themselves. These can be played later to allow students a chance to hear themselves read and for me to help them make improvements.
I am so grateful you supported and invested in my students and their learning.”
