  • Clean and Healthy

    Funded Oct 2, 2021

Thank you for funding the supplies to keep our classroom clean and healthy. Today, in particular, we are very hyperfocused on cleanliness and minimizing high-touch areas. The soaps and cleaners will be used to keep our hands and high-touch surfaces clean.

We have a routine - at each transition, students wash their hands. That is a lot of hand washing and soap, but it is worth the effort. Our classroom has been able to stay healthy and safe since returning to school full-time.

Thank you for your generosity and your help in keeping our environment healthy.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Azevedo

  • This Is for the Birds!

    Funded Aug 2, 2021

Thank you for funding our project for the birds. We do an in-depth study every year on birds and we were in need of replenishing our materials for the project.

The books will be used for our classroom research. Students each pick a bird to research and having more books in class will allow for more content to be learned. The bird food and feeders have been placed in our classroom window so we can watch the birds feed and see them up close. This has also helped with the research.

Thank you for your generosity. My students really enjoy this project and it is fun to watch them get excited about all of the wildlife we have in our area.”

  • Mosaics for Mom

    Funded May 27, 2021

Thank you for funding our project for mosaics. This is such a fun project. My students get to "do art" using a different medium which is so fun to use.

The supplies for this project will be used to study a new art technique (mosaics) and then it will be given as a gift to my students' parents. Over the years I have done this project and my kids have just loved it.

The snacks were requested to give my kids a little pick me up during the day. Fed children are happier and more productive children.

My students and I are very thankful for your generous donation.”

  • Starting the Year Off Right

    Funded Jul 19, 2021

Thank you for funding our project for all the supplies for getting our school year off to a good start. I requested basic supplies and other items need to make the classroom run efficiently.

We are so fortunate that we are back in school full-time. We are happily using all of our supplies to do art, create posters, and go outside to work so we can breathe a little more freely. We use the clipboards to work outside so students can spread out and go maskless.

The items you donated are essential for running a classroom. I thank you for your generosity.”

  • Clean, Fed and Organized

    Funded Aug 14, 2021

Thank you for your generosity. With the pandemic, our classroom routine has been disrupted. The items requested in the project are to help get us back to a more normal routine.

One thing we have been attentive to is to be more diligent with keeping our environment clean. We wipe surfaces at all breaks and make sure high-touch areas are cleaned regularly. The cleaning supplies will help with this task. The snacks are to keep my student focused since hunger can greatly affect performance. When my students are fed, they are much more focused and get quality work done. The storage containers are to keep our classroom organized which helps to keep kids focused since the clutter is minimized.

Thank you for your donation. We are in school full day and have been using all of the supplies.”

  • Pippi Longstocking

    Funded Mar 16, 2021

Thank you for funding our read aloud Pippi Longstocking. Pippi is such a fun and quirky character. Her antics are entertaining and she has such a great approach to life.

When my students listen to this story, they just listen with such great attention. They are so surprised by her behavior and sometimes are unsure how to respond to the events in the story. I love my students' reactions and I love being able to talk about the book with my kids. This story gives them a chance to read a new genre and really hooks them into reading fantasy/realistic fiction. This book is such a great conversation piece and it really allows students to expand their comprehension skills.

Thank you for gifting my class these wonderful books. We are currently reading the story and enjoying every minute of it!”

  • Trial of Goldylocks

    Funded Mar 16, 2021

I am so excited about this project and know my students will be excited as well. Every year my class reads a story about a moose who goes on trial for supposedly stealing a pie. Throughout the story, students read about the jury process and how the court system works. The materials requested in this project are to continue learning about the jury system.

I requested a class set of books for students to read that is about a group of students that take justice into their own hands. They have issues on the playground and work together to have a playground trial to solve their problems. Reading this story will allow students to learn about the courts and trials. After we read the story as a class, students will put on a mock trial/play of the Trail of Goldilocks.

Thank you for providing all these great supplies to my students. We appreciate your generosity and the opportunity to enhance my students' learning experience.”

  • Keep the Body Moving

    Funded May 5, 2021

Thank you for funding our project for flexible seating. I have found over all my years of teaching that students benefit from different ways of sitting. In particular, I have seen students who love to stand while working and they are so productive when allowed to stand. The standing desk will provide a sturdy workspace and will also give the kids the room to move without distracting the other students. The yoga supplies are for stretching and having a soft space for doing so. The Zenergy ball is a great seating option for students who need to move their bodies while working.

Thank you for your generous donation to our classroom. My students are enjoying all of these seating options to help them maximize their learning.”

  • Comprehension Through Listening

    Funded Mar 16, 2021

Thank you for funding our project for Pippi Longstocking books. Because of restrictions from from Covid this year, wearing masks and social distancing, I have found it difficult to read out loud to my students. My voice doesn't project and my students have a hard time hearing me. My solution to this problem was to listen to audiobooks. Since we have been listening to my audiobook library since we have been back in person in Sept., we have quickly listened to my entire collection. I requested the Pippi books so we can continue to enjoy listening to great books, build vocabulary and to listen to books that are slightly above my students' readability level. Thank you for fully funding our project!”

  • Desk Pets

    Funded Apr 1, 2021

We have started our desk pet project and it is a big hit! My students love the pets and are working hard to earn them. To earn a pet students have to earn "money" by doing quality work, finishing assignments on time and being a good citizen. On Friday, students can use their money to buy pets, a habitat and food. In addition, students create an adoption profile and write in a journal about the pet.

We are at the end of the school year and this is the time when students get burnt out. Having a new approach to keep students motivated is a life saver. Students are motivated to work and have a great attitude. Implementing the desk pet program is making getting to the finish line achievable.

    Thank you for your generosity!”
