  • Full and Happy

    Funded Jan 10, 2022

Thank you for funding our project for snacks! So many of my students are starving by recess and having these snacks are essential to get them through to lunch.

I have a lot of students who do not each breakfast. So many times they come to me complaining of a stomach ache. Most of the time it is because they are hungry. These snacks are the perfect fix and not to mention, they are nutritious.

We have state testing at the end of the school year. These snacks will be given out to students each morning to help them do their best on the test.

My students and I appreciate what you have done for my students.”

  • Merry Christmas!

    Funded Dec 1, 2021

Thank you for giving my students a Merry Christmas. The books and puzzle books were a hit. They all loved picking out a book to take home and they loved having a Christmas puzzle book to engage their minds.

The craft kits were a hit. They offered a lot of variety so students could pick what craft to make. They loved having a choice and were able to create a gift for their families. We all know kids love to get presents but they really also love to give them.

Thank you for making my students' pre-Christmas experiences calming and positive.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Azevedo

  • Christmas Is Coming!

    Funded Oct 26, 2021

Thank you for funding our project for Christmas crafts. We had fun during the month of December creating a variety of crafts to give as gifts. We called our craft-making time Santa's Workshop.

I really liked our Santa's Workshop approach. There were a variety of crafts to make and students chose what they want to make. They could weave a potholder, make a magnet, or create an ornament. It was a fun and relaxing time that helped us get into the Christmas spirit.

Thank you for your generosity by giving my student the materials that created positive energy and made the Christmas season fun!”

  • Keeping My Kids Healthy

    Funded Nov 2, 2021

Thank you for funding our project for cleaning supplies. In today's world, we are more aware than ever about washing hands and high-touch surfaces. The supplies you donated are to continue our efforts to keep our room environment germ-free.

Since the beginning of the COVID protocols, students have been washing hands before and after recess. The soap is colorful and fragrant and kids enjoy using it. This helps keep the kids motivated to wash hands. The Mr. Clean Wipes are to wipes down desks and the sink (a high touch area). We have done a great job keeping our room clean and healthy.

Thank you for contributing to our safe environment.”

  • National Geographic

    Funded Oct 21, 2021

The National Geographic books are a huge hit! The pictures and content are engaging and students love to pour over the books.

My class is challenged with reading 40 books during the school year. Of the 40, five must be informational books. I find that when reading informational books my students love the books so much that they take all the books they want to read over the next few weeks and keep them in their cubbies. This poses a problem because it leaves the bookshelves bare. I requested these books so we don't run out of books!

Thank you for filling our bookshelves with these wonderful titles.”

  • Keeping Clean and Healthy

    Funded Oct 16, 2021

In the COVID world, it is important to enhance cleaning and hygiene. The computer cleaning kits are to keep our computers clean and free of germs. We use our computers daily and wiping them down regularly helps keep germs at bay.

The paper and ink are to print socio-emotional activities. It seems that more than ever my students need guidance on how to interact and deal with feelings. We have a new curriculum, which is web based. The supplemental materials need to be printed and that is why I requested paper and ink.

    Thank you for your generosity.”

  • Reuse and Reduce!

    Funded Oct 21, 2021

Thank you for funding our project for water bottles. The bottles will be used at school. So often students come in after recess and want to drink water. This delays starting lessons. I requested the bottles so students can have a full bottle of water at their workstations to minimize disruptions.

I also requested the bottles to help minimize using cups to get water. We have a water jug in our class but students use cups to drink the water. We go through a lot of cups daily, and it is very wasteful. Students will see the impact on our environment will be lessened by using reusable bottles.”

  • Mustang Store

    Funded Oct 16, 2021

Thank you for funding items for our classroom store. Our school gives out red Mustang bucks to students for good behavior. The red bucks can then be traded in for prizes. I requested a variety of items to put in our classroom store.

Having a token economy keeps kids focused, engaged and motivated. Rewarding kids for positive behavior goes a long way. Students respond better than being constantly disciplined.

The items you donated to our class are to refill our classroom store. Monthly we visit the store to shop. I have noticed our store shelves are becoming bare and I wrote this project to refill the store. I requested some popular items such as pens and erasers and added some new supplies, such as lip balm and lotions.

    Thank you for your generosity.”

  • Motivational Tools

    Funded Aug 9, 2021

Thank you for funding our project for motivational tools and decor for our science classroom.

The items I requested were for inspiring phrases that I have hung up around the room. As the year progresses, I put up different quotes and as a class we talk about the meaning. We have a new social emotional curriculum and one new approach to our teaching is having class meetings. I have incorporated meetings into my daily routine and this is when we discuss positive approaches in life. I have seen a more calmer approach with my students and a better attitude.

Some of the other items I requested were decor for our science classroom. The items go along with a nature theme which is the focus of our STEM room. We have been adding an outdoor classroom and the decorations for our indoor space help keep with the nature theme.

Thank you for your generous donation.”

  • Acorn Books for the Win!

    Funded Oct 21, 2021

My students were so excited to get all of these new books. As soon as I introduced the titles to them, they were all rushing to read one of the books.

We have two reading programs in our classroom, Accelerated Reader and the 40 Book Challenge. For both programs, we need a variety of books at different readability levels.

I struggle with keeping low-level readability level books in class. Generally, books at a low reading level appear to be for younger students and 3rd graders tend to be embarrassed reading those books. The books you donated are at an easier reading level but appeal to 3rd graders. This helps with keeping students motivated and wanting to read without being embarrassed.

Thank you for your generosity. There is nothing better than getting brand new books. I love that my students are so eager to read them.”
