  • I Can Read

    Funded Aug 10, 2022

Thank you for funding all these wonderful books for my students. I have a diverse group of kids and they all are reading at different levels. Most of the books I have are for the third-grade level reader but I do have students who cannot read independently at that level. The books I requested are stories that are for my students who need practice with beginning-level readers.

For students to improve on reading they need to read and they need to read books that are at appropriate reading level. Adding these books to our library will continue to help students improve their reading and feel confident.

    Thank you for your generosity!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Azevedo

  • Mosaics for Mom

    Funded Apr 19, 2022

I love this project and so do my students. They love the art project and they love that this is a gift for their moms.

This project is a lot of fun. I love that it uses a different art medium. The project allows for patterning and color coordination.

The best part of his project is students get to give. Students love to receive presents but they also love to give them. They have so much pride when they have their final project knowing they are making their moms happy.

Thank you for giving my students the supplies to create these lovely gifts!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Azevedo

  • Building Math Skills

    Funded Jun 30, 2022

Thank you for funding the math manipulative for my students. Having hands-on supplies is essential for conceptualizing concepts in math.

I requested fraction tiles for each child. One of the third-grade standards is to compare fractions. This is a tough concept. The tiles that were ordered will help students see how to compare fractions. The lessons that are taught for this concept are to draw out shapes and break them up into fractions. This is very difficult. Students' fine motor skills are not advanced and they struggle to make the sketches the right size. These tiles will help them with the visual.

The other materials I ordered are multiplication wrap-ups. I have a self-paced multiplication packet but the kids need wrap-ups to complete it. Many of the tasks in the packet are timed and they love the challenge of improving their speed on their multiplication facts.

Thank you for your donation! My students are enjoying all the new hands-on materials.”

  • Replenishing Our Supplies

    Funded Jun 28, 2022

Thank you for funding our project for basic supplies. These items may seem basic but they are essential to making the classroom run smoothly.

First of all, the Teachers Pay Teachers gift card has come in very handy. It provides me the opportunity to purchase materials created by other teachers. It is nice to be able to lesson plan and have all the resources available on TPT.

The notebooks will be used for a variety of projects. We use notebooks for our reading journals, math notes and for writing. Students love their journals and they are a great resource for referencing content.

The glue and erasers will be used for basic classroom projects and clean-up.

    Thank you for your donation!”

  • Books, Books and Books!

    Funded May 12, 2022

Thank you for funding our project for books! My class can never have enough books! They especially love when new books arrive!

The books chosen are popular titles and were chosen by my students. Each year, I do a survey to find out which books students feel should be added to our library. This year students requested the Dragon Master books and the I Survived series.

My students participate in a 40 book challenge. They are required to read 40 books and they need to be in specific genres. These two series are introduced when we focus on fantasy and historical fiction. It is fun to see students get excited about a new type of book. They find that they actually like different types of books.

    Thank you for your generosity!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Azevedo

  • Painted Border Rocks

    Funded May 12, 2022

Thank you for funding our project for paint for our border rocks. We have a rock garden river that borders the primary building. Students have painted the rocks to create a beautiful piece of art. We now are painting rocks to create borders for our school garden.

This last year we remodeled our garden. It was redesigned so students could plant a butterfly garden. It will also be used as a sensory play area for our younger students.

The paints will be used to create borders for the different areas. We have a parent-student science evening planned this year and we will have students paint the rocks with their parents. It will be a great partnership - the school, students and parents!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Azevedo

  • Student Requested Books

    Funded May 12, 2022

Each year I ask my students which books they like to read so I can order them. This year Dragon Masters was a huge hit as well as the I Survived series.

I was able to request the wanted books and thanks to you, the project for the books was funded. The kids were so excited when the books arrived.

I am now into our new school year. My new students are grateful for all the new books. They, too, like the same books chosen for them by last year's students.

Thank you for your generous donation. In order to keep students reading and to have a love of reading, they need to have books. The best way is to have books they want to read! Thank you for getting those books into their hands.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Azevedo

  • Reflection Through Journaling

    Funded Aug 10, 2022

Thank you for funding our project for journals. My students use journals for many different subjects. I love the new animal covered journals. They are so engaging and my students love that they can color the cover. We will be using them to write narratives each week.

The other journals will be used for math and art. My students do their math seatwork in a journal each day so they have reference materials. I have noticed over the years they refer back to their notes to help them with their math problems. The art journals will be used as nature/sketch journals.

Thank you for your generous donation. I appreciate your support!”

  • An Apple a Day...

    Funded Jan 11, 2022

Thank you for donating a new iPad. We have a few iPads and they are getting old and slow. Adding a new iPad has helped with keeping our technology up-to-date.

My students use the iPad for many different things. They can code, write stories or do math lessons. I requested a magic keyboard in another project and when used with the iPad, it turns it into a computer. Students can use the new set up which is faster and more efficient.

Thank you for your generosity. This iPad will be used by many for years to come.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Azevedo

  • Updating Our Tech

    Funded Jan 11, 2022

Thank you for updating our technology! I requested an Apple Pen and keyboard to use with our classroom iPad.

The keyboard is a game changer. It turns an iPad into a computer. It makes typing so much easier. Students can write stories, navigate websites and keyboard. It has transformed the iPad into more than just a tablet. The Apple Pen makes drawing and writing easier, too. It can be used to transfer information from the tablet to our big screen t.v.

Thank you for your generosity. My student love this new technology. It has given them tools that make learning much more accessible.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Azevedo
