  • Learning Social Skills Through Games

    Funded Aug 3, 2023

Thank you for funding our project for games. This year I have been using games to teach social skills. The kids are learning to be good sports, to cooperate and to have fun even if they are losing!

The games I requested are for our p.e. game days. Each week a new game is taught. Also during each week, students are paired up with different opponents. The kids are learning and practicing their skills, learning new games and are using communication skills while engaged in a fun activity.

    Thank you for your generosity!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Azevedo

  • A Comfy Place to Read

    Funded May 15, 2023

Thank you for funding our project for materials for a comfy reading spot.

My students read every day. They read for content and they also read for pleasure. Students also have reading as a free choice activity when they have finished their work.

I requested water bottles, blankets and Squishmellows to enhance our reading area. These items are to create an inviting space where students can read. Students can only use the reading area if they are engaged in reading.

    Thank you for your generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Azevedo

  • Odds and End

    Funded Aug 2, 2023

Thank you for funding our project for odds and ends. Some of these items are essential in making the classroom run smoothly, such as the ink. The other items are for an art project that students will create, which will be a bracelet for Mother's Day.

The books are being added to our library. So many times I have a series of books that become popular. Right now the popular series is the Branches book series. I requested new Branches titles to be added to our bookshelves.

    Thank you for your generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Azevedo

  • Starting Off on a Positive Note

    Funded Aug 16, 2023

Thank you for funding our project for items start our school year off on a positive note. I knew that a few of the students who were entering third grade struggled with coming to class on time. On day one I rewarded students for lining up on time to keep them motivated to come to class. So far things have gone well and students are returning to class. In order to keep them coming, they need to have rewards and a variety of them. One is to have a good visual reward system (the star chart). The pencil pouches will be placed in our classroom store for purchase. The cleaning supplies are to keep our room clean so we can stay healthy.

    Thank you for your generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Azevedo

  • Student Requested Books

    Funded Mar 31, 2023

Thank you for funding our project for books. Each year I have my students take a survey to tell me which books they would like added to our library and which books we are missing from a series such as I Survived. Those are the books that were requested for this project.

I challenge my students with two different reading programs. To help them become successful and reach their goals, students need books, lots of books. These books are helping keep my students on track to reach their goals.

A few of the titles in this project were to replace books in a series. My students love the I Survived books and the Dragon Master series. I have asked for replacement books in these two series plus any newly published books.

    Thank you for your generosity!”

  • Keeping our Bodies Fueled

    Funded Apr 17, 2023

Thank you for providing my students with all of these wonderful snacks. They enjoyed them as they were working on the end-of-the-year state testing. It was essential to have all of the snacks to keep my students' stomachs full so their brains could work better.

I find that many students come to school without eating breakfast. They are starving well before recess. Having snacks available helps these kids bridge to lunch. Again, having a full stomach makes learning easier.

    Thank you for your generosity!”

    Mrs. Azevedo

  • An Apple (iPad) a Day Keep Illiteracy Away!

    Funded May 9, 2023

Thank you for funding our project for an iPad. I have a few original iPads and they are becoming incompatible with many of the new electronic devices I have in my classroom. Each year I replace an older iPad with a newer device.

My students use the iPads each day in our reading groups. The iPads are used with the OSMO kits to practice basic reading skills.

The iPads are also used to run our Dash and Dot robots and Lego Mindstorm robots. We have a family science night each year and a few of the older students use the kits and iPads to run the robots for the primary students.

My students also use the iPad with the amazing apps that are available. They practice math and reading skills.

    Thank you for your generosity!”

  • I Can Read!

    Funded Mar 29, 2023

Thank you for funding our project for books. I have quite a few kids that need books that are for emerging readers and these books are perfect for their needs.

I give my students a few challenges to work on each year. One is called the 40 book challenge and the other is to earn points for our Accelerated Reader program. Both challenges require students to read a variety of books. In order to help them reach their goals, they need to have books available to them. Adding all the titles in this project to our library will help my students reach their goals.

Thank you for your generosity. These books will be used by many students for many years!”

  • Odds and Ends

    Funded Apr 17, 2023

Thank you for funding our project for odds and ends. The items requested may seem so simple but they are the supplies that are needed to make the classroom run smoothly.

The snacks have been great for the end of the year to keep my kids motivated to finish the year strong. We also used the snacks during state testing to keep stomachs full so students' brains could focus on their schoolwork.

The ink is a necessity! Students print work, pictures, and assignments. The ink gets used quickly so having a few replacement cartridges is essential.

The batteries are used for our outdoor speaker and other electronics that are used for small group/independent work.

    Thank you for your generosity!”

  • Printing Help

    Funded Apr 17, 2023

Thank you for providing a printer and ink to our classroom! My students will be able to use the printer to print worksheets, essays and homework.

This printer is perfect for my students. They need to have a printer that is accessible to them. I have my own teacher printer but they do not have access to the printer so they have to send their documents to me to print. Students will now be able to print directly from their computers to the printer which will make the classroom run much more efficiently.

    Thank you for your generosity!”
