  • Sketching in the Field

    Funded Aug 21, 2019

Thank you for funding our project for sketching journals. My students love them!

At the beginning of the school year, my students did an in-depth study on a local bird. A guest journaling artist came in the beginning of the year and taught my students how to sketch and make annotations in their journals. After learning how to use nature journal and drawing different birds, my students chose a bird to focus on and entered their drawings into a contest.

My students are still using the journals for various sketches. Recently my students entered a Smokey Bear poster contest. Before making their final copy of the poster, my students practiced sketching bears. They take the journals on field trips and sketch animals, plants and trees. They carry the journal to the garden and into our orchard to sketch the cycle of the plants and trees.

I am loving these journals just as much as my students. I plan on using them every year. I see a lot of skill being built from learning to draw and to write. My students are becoming more confident artists and writers.

    Thank you for your generosity.”

  • Cricut to Decorate our Classroom Store

    Funded Jan 14, 2020

Thank you for funding our project for a Circuit. The machine will go to great use in our classroom. We can use the machine to decorate our room and students can use the machine to personalize their projects.

I have seen so many great projects that are created by the Cricut. I know my students will enjoy this different medium for creating and decorating their projects and classroom.”

  • Christmas Social

    Funded Nov 14, 2019

Thank you for funding our project for a tea/hot chocolate maker and snacks. We will be using these items for our Christmas social. The tradition of having a social started last year and it was so successful, we decided to do it again this year.

Third graders are a very social group and need assistance on how to interact in a more formal setting. With our social, students learn to take turns talking, learn to clean up and learn to how to use proper conversation while dining. We will post proper ways to start a conversation around the room to assist students.

I really like this project because it takes the frantic day of having an unstructured party into a structured day that is calm and relaxing. This takes away the stress and provide a great learning experience.

    Thank you for your generosity.”

  • Staying in Contact

    Funded Oct 20, 2019

Thank you for providing a smart watch for our usage. I have a student who needs to be in contact with the office and with parents at all times. I am carrying around so many devices at one time that I cannot carry my phone, which is the device I use to get texts from the parent. I requested a smart watch so I could be reached at all times.

We move around our large campus a lot during the school day. We visit our 4th grade buddies at the top of campus, we run on the track and our playground is quite a distance from our classroom. In order to make sure I am in contact with all involved, I need to carry three different devices at all times. Having the watch allows me to keep my hands free but able to still communicate.

Thank you for your generosity. I have been using this watch and it has made keeping in contact a lot easier for all involved.”

  • Mustang Store

    Funded Sep 25, 2019

Thank you for funding our project for our Mustang Store. My students were thrilled to see all of the new items that were donated that will be placed on the store shelves.

Each Friday, students to get go to our classroom store. In order to buy items, students earn Mustang Dollars by turning in homework, being a good citizen and for producing quality work.

I feel our Mustang Store is very successful since it requires students to budget, count money and provide change (when being the store keeper).

Thank you for your generosity by replenishing our store shelves. The new supplies help students stay motivated and eager to earn money, which in turn has created a smoothly run school environment.”

  • Clean and Healthy

    Funded Aug 8, 2019

Thank you for funding our project for materials to keep our classroom clean and decorated. We started this school year in a brand new building. This building was built to replace the one we lost in a school fire in 2016.

In order to keep our new building looking new, I requested clean supplies and materials to decorate our room. We use cleaning supplies to keep our tables sparkling clean, which also helps keep us healthy. We use the soaps at our sink to keep our hands clean. We are using the decorations to create colorful bulletin boards which keep students engaged.

Thank you for your generosity. Our school year started off with a bang with all of these new supplies that make our classroom inviting, clean and healthy.”

  • Read Alouds Part II

    Funded May 13, 2019

Thank you for your generous donation to our class. With your donation we have added a few class sets of books to our classroom. We will use the sets of books to read together as a whole class.

The best thing about using these books it we will get to do an in-depth study on the stories. The stories in our regular reading program are short picture books. We don't get the opportunity to study characters, setting or plots in detail like we will be able to with these novels.

This year we started reading a fun chapter book that focuses on a disfunctional school. The kids love the story and laugh out loud at all of the antics displayed by the quirky characters. As we read, we talk about the character and their behaviors. The students are enjoying this story to much they cannot wait to read the rest of books in the series. I am thrilled my students are so interested in reading!

Thank you for helping my students get the tools they need to become better readers.”

  • Realistic Fiction

    Funded May 13, 2019

Thank you for donating to our project for realistic fiction books. Our reading series takes a chapter from two popular book series, Ramona and Judy Moody, and as a class we read the chapters and do a few activities on the story. We really do not do these books great justice by just reading one chapter. My students always love when we read these excerpts and beg to read more. That is why I have requested class sets of the books.

The best thing about these two books is the story lines are so real to my third graders.

Ramona is quirky and gets herself into so many situations. My students love to read about her antics and how she solves her problems. So many of the problems Ramona faces are the same that my students face. It is fun to see my students making connections with their lives to the literature they are reading. It makes the reading experience more meaningful and engaging.

Thank you for your generosity. I look forward to sharing the entire novels with my students this year.”

  • A New Environment Needs New Supplies

    Funded May 13, 2019

Thank you for funding our project for new supplies for our new classroom. My classroom was lost to a school fire two years ago. My temporary classroom was been housed in a portable building while our new building was being built.

Our new building was finished over the summer and we are now in our brand new classroom. In order to make and keep the classroom environment clean, bright and orderly, I requested supplies to decorate the walls and borders. These decorations have made our classroom bright and engaging.

In addition to supplies to decorate the walls, I requested cleaning supplies to keep our new room clean. The vacuum will be used to keep our floor clean and the soaps will be used to keep our bodies clean.

Thank you for your generosity. We are loving our new building and classroom. Thank you for contributing to make it an inviting and engaging environment.”

  • Mosaics for Mom

    Funded May 13, 2019

Thank you for the art supplies for our mosaics project. Each year I do a couple of art projects that are intended as gifts for my students' parents. We have made reusable totes, candles, soap and mosaics.

The materials I requested are to make mosaics and magnets. The mosaics are a wonderful way to teach color and patterns. The mosaics are great for also introducing a new medium. Last year my teaching partner and I had our students create magnets. They drew pictures on paper and they glued them onto the magnets. The magnets were given as gifts for Mother's Day. The materials in the project were requested so we can make the magnets again this year.

With the Christmas holiday right around the corner, we'll use the materials to create a gift for my students' parents.

Thank you for your generosity. My students and I look forward to this engaging and fun project.”
