I have 22 fourth grade students who come into my room ready to learn. When they walk in the door to my classroom, they know they are coming into a safe environment and a teacher that truly cares about them. Everyday, I teach Reading, Math, and Social Studies. By providing these hands-on math materials to my classroom, these materials will assist me with individual content for struggling students as well as promote higher order thinking. My classroom is also built around goal setting. By letting a student set his/her own goals, encourages them to strive to do their best. Students have Math goals and Reading goals that they set for themselves throughout the year. As a teacher, I want to provide as many manipulatives to encourage student learning. I cherish these students and truly claim them as my own children throughout the school year. A teacher takes a hand, opens the mind, and touches the heart.
