Your donation has made a huge impact on our buildings!

65 teachers engaged in Summer 2024 Book Study Antiracist Reading Revolution, 10 teachers currently are studying the book and using picture books that are listed.

In addition, ARR framework used in literacy and leadership meetings to collaborate around a literacy framework. Teachers have been developing ARR aligned lessons and picture books used as model lessons for Black Lives Matter Week of Action this month.

  • Stamped for Kids Book Study - Mirrors and Windows

    Funded Aug 29, 2022

Students have been learning about Race, Racism and Antiracism in our 5th grade classes and also taking action to create a more just community. Your project supported students in this work by funding class sets and copies for all students to access and read along as they listened to the audio version.

Students were able to learn about the truth of our history and choose people or events to research to further their learning. The resources and materials developed by teachers and used with your donations were shared across all 14 elementary schools in our district!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Jensen

  • Kindness Rocks!

    Funded Feb 28, 2022

This project supported our SEL curriculum across the building and helped students to see the impact of their actions on students and a sense of belonging across our school. We are so appreciative of your support!

Teaching into kindness, empathy and a sense of belonging is an important value we are working on teaching into in all of our schools in this district. We know that when students have the support and space to promote kindness across their classrooms, they step up to the challenge and can teach others as well!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Jensen

  • Black History Month and Black Lives Matter in Schools

    Funded Feb 9, 2022

Your contributions to this project allowed our students to have easy access to so many more books written by black authors. This supports our work in providing mirrors and windows into students lives and will help us support students in working toward a more just and equitable world. Our students learned the 13 Black Lives Matter Principles and have been reflecting on how they apply to their lives. These books helped students to think about how the principles are reflected in the texts they read and what they can learn from these writers.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Jensen

  • Increase Representation in our Classroom Libraries!

    Funded Oct 21, 2021

Thank you so much for donating books to our classroom libraries! Your work has allowed teachers to put diverse, just right and anti-bias books from diverse authors in students hands every day!

Reading in our classroom looks like students getting into the reading zone with books they choose and that are either mirrors or windows into their lives or the lives of people with identities very different from their own.

We hope to continue to build our diverse libraries as we believe that books serve as a beautiful opportunity to build more empathy and love in the world! Thank you!”

  • Reading Growth Treasure Chest!

    Funded Aug 27, 2019

Students are very excited for toys and reading prizes for our reading treasure chest. This is a great motivator for students and we are very appreciative. Some students can receive a prize for reading and finishing their first book and others can receive prizes for finishing over 10 books since the beginning of the year. We are focusing on growth over time and having a little incentive helps! Thanks again! We will continue to think of ways to motivate readers and writers in our reading and writing workshop classrooms!”
