  • S.T.E.M. Applications

    Funded Sep 25, 2023

On behalf of my students and myself I would like to express our gratitude for helping fund this project. Since the arrival of the materials we have been working on a number of interactive hands-on activities that combine reading, math and technology. We have set up the plastic bins with the items needed for all the activities, with the printer we have worksheets and templates at our disposal, and with the tablet with research information, take pictures and use a number of applications available.

The students have enjoyed setting up the bins with items to use for the interactive assignments the most. They were thrilled to bring and find the items needed and to personalize their bins.

Again, thank you for your donation. They love the fact that they can have access to fun learning activities. Thank you so much for your generosity and support for public school children!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hiliana Gomez

  • Living Books Tell a Story

    Funded Jun 2, 2020

I want to thank you on behalf of my students for making this project possible. This has been such a challenging year for everyone and yet you gave generously. This school year classes were virtual, however I was able to create individual packets with letters, word cards, bookmarks to send home.

The students are looking forward to coming back to face to face classes and work on Bringing a Story Book to Life using the Cricut Cutting Machine and the cardstock paper that was provided in our project. At this time we have restrictions on working in group projects, I hope that soon things will return to normal and our students can once again get that interaction amongst peers.

To expand on this project the students will present it during Story Time. In addition, the students really like the individual manipulatives and we will plan on creating those across the curriculum.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hiliana Gomez

“Bringing Books to Life” is a student project that will include reading, writing and role playing. Using the Cricut machine and the story books, the students will create characters and settings to retell the stories read. My main goal with this project is to provide English Language Learners the connections needed to build vocabulary and develop proficiency. Together we will find ways for students to respond to literature; by creating different endings through dioramas, lap books or posters, making an illustrated-only book or designing a storyboard. Social emotional skills will be developed as students create artifacts from the stories to put on plays or making puppets for a puppet show. Having my students become active readers opens endless possibilities to explore across the curriculum in science, mathematics and social studies, allowing them to extend their reading from different perspectives as they create and share their projects.
