“Bringing Books to Life” is a student project that will include reading, writing and role playing. Using the Cricut machine and the story books, the students will create characters and settings to retell the stories read.
My main goal with this project is to provide English Language Learners the connections needed to build vocabulary and develop proficiency. Together we will find ways for students to respond to literature; by creating different endings through dioramas, lap books or posters, making an illustrated-only book or designing a storyboard. Social emotional skills will be developed as students create artifacts from the stories to put on plays or making puppets for a puppet show.
Having my students become active readers opens endless possibilities to explore across the curriculum in science, mathematics and social studies, allowing them to extend their reading from different perspectives as they create and share their projects.
