  • Revolutionary Monuments

    Funded Oct 9, 2018

Students used the resources in history class to create monuments to the American Revolution. They really enjoyed creating something with their own hands. They were excited to see the supplies come in, preview the items, and select their supplies for the project.

Many students began working more diligently in order to use the materials because they had to finish their worksheets and sketch before beginning the project. Watching other students use the materials really motivated them to get their work done.

We love having the students do hand on projects. We are looking forward to our History Day activities in January.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hiers

Students will create a mockup of a monument to honor the American Revolution and preserve our history. The requested materials will enable them to be creative and courageous in their choice of people, causes, and events to memorialize. Students will strive to create a monument that honors and respects all Americans by connecting the project to current events. Symbolism will be used to convey information which is why the students need these requested materials. These materials will allow students to communicate their thinking in a tangible way. The clay and wooden people will be used to make the historical figures associated with the American Revolution. Students will use the paint, paintbrushes, masking tape, foam blocks, craft sticks, tissue paper, and fishing line to create the monument. The paper cups will be used to hold the glue and paint. The glue will be used to secure items to the shoebox.
