The requested resources will help students continue their learning in light of COVID-19 by making my class feel safe, inviting, and exciting to these children who have all been affected by the pandemic. Because of COVID-19, some students still have anxiety when it comes to school. By using the wheel and the drop game resources, students may be able to forget about the pandemic and other hard things in life for a moment and learn in a fun way, look forward to coming to school, and be more motivated. These resources can be adapted in many ways, such as choosing assignments, creating groups, and providing positive reinforcement. Many students have struggled with not feeling safe because of the pandemic. I want my room to feel like a safe place for them. Not only will the fluorescent light filters add a decorative and inviting element for students, but will, more importantly, reduce eye strain and headaches, as research has shown. The pandemic has been a dark time, but I want students to feel happy and to enjoy learning. One way to accomplish this is through the use of a color printer. Having assignments, posters, and activities printed in color will be more appealing to students and may add a little color to their lives. Plus, Ecotank printers are a conservative way to save on ink. Although COVID-19 has had a negative effect on their young lives, through the aforementioned resources, my second grade students can feel emotionally secure in a safe, inviting, and exciting class.
