I have been teaching kindergarten at this school for eight years, and integrating art into the language arts has been most challenging for me. I have the students cut and paste, color with crayons and water paint, but using paint to make large pictures has been difficult. My students are 100 percent English language learners, and 95 percent of them receive free lunch. We are a charter school in our ninth year and have made great progresses except in art appreciation. This art center would give the students a great opportunity to express themselves artistically.
