Drum Sticks for Wanna Be Rock Stars
Funded May 7, 2011Thank you for your generosity in funding "Drum Sticks for Wanna Be Rock Stars!" Your donation has purchased over 30 sets of drum sticks to be used by students in general music class for grades 5 through 8. In this class students are learning how to play the guitar and drum set, and perform music as a group by modern musicians such as Bob Marley and Coldplay.
Prior to your donation, we had a beautiful drumset but no drum sticks with which to teach students how to play! Thanks to your kindness, all students are now able to learn the kinesthetic skills of playing the drum together. Each student receives their own drum sticks to practice, and students are able to take turns playing the drum. Your gift will be enjoyed for years. Thank you!”

Keep The Music Keyboards Powered!
Funded Dec 2, 2010Thank you for your donation to "Keep the Keyboards Powered!" Your donation has purchased enough batteries for entire classroom set of music keyboards! This is especially important in these tough financial times when school budgets are so tight. Too often, the fine arts suffer when times are tough. Your donation has allowed my music students to continue to play on the music keyboards. My music room has two functioning electrical outlets and 13 music keyboards which are shared by students. Due to the lack of outlets, we rely on batteries to power the keyboards. Your donation has provided enough batteries to keep us going into the next year! With the keyboards students perform music, improvise, and learn the basics of music theory. Thank you for your donation!”

Orff Xylophone Stand- Part 3!
Funded Jan 26, 2011Thank you for your kindness in donating to "Orff Xylophone Stand- Part 3!" Your thoughtful donation has purchased a large rolling stand. On this stand is place an Orff xylophone. Your donation is especially appreciated because the xylophones are large, heavy, and nearly impossible to safely move without the assistance of a rolling cart. Thanks to your donation, we now have enough rolling carts for all of our xylophones! We no longer have to store the instruments on the floor, carry the heavy instruments around the room, and place them on the chairs to play them. All that movement risked possibly damaging the instruments. Your donation guarantees that the instrument will be safe for students to play music on and improvise on for years. Thank you!”

Orff Xylophone Stand!
Funded Dec 30, 2010Thank you for your donation to "Orff Xylophone Stand!" Your donation has purchased an instrument stand with wheels which holds a large xylophone. The stand makes it possible to safely move the xylophone throughout the music room between students and from the storage area to students. The stand also guarantees that the instrument will not be damaged by being dropped while in transit. The xylophone is a large, fragile instrument. Having a rolling stand makes it easier for myself and the students to move the instrument around in class, meaning we use it more frequently.
With the xylophone students compose, improvise, and perform music that is often accompanied by dance, Thank you for your donation, it will be enjoyed for years!”

Recorders For Young Musicians!
Funded Dec 15, 2010Thank you for your thoughtfulness in funding "Recorders for Young Musicians!" Students have started to learn how to play the recorders, and have successfully learned how to hold the recorders. Students are able to play the instruments with a musical tone, and they have started to learn how to play notes on the instruments. At this point students are able to play B, A, and G. They learned these notes by watching and listening as I played them, and through a series of games. With these notes students are able to play a number of songs. Thank you again for your donation, the students are enjoying learning how to play the recorder!”

Funded Sep 1, 2010Thank you for your donation to "Ukulele Books!" Your donation has purchased 25 ukulele books which have been used by general music students at a public school. Using material contained in these books, students learned how to hold the instruments, how to strum, how to play 3 basic chords, and they learned singing accompaniment skills as they sang songs contained in the book.
