Djembe Beat Part 5
Funded Jan 9, 2009Thank you so much for your continued support! The djembes will be added to my collection of world percussion instruments in the classroom. Students in grades K-8 will use the djembes as they compose, improvise, and play composed music. The instruments will be reused and enjoyed for years by young musicians at our school. Djembe Beat Part 4
Funded Dec 28, 2008Thank you for your kindness and generosity in funding "Djembe Beat Part 4." Your thoughtful donation will purchase 2 child sized musical djembes. The djembes will be added to the small but growing collection of world percussion instruments at the 2 schools I work at in south Chicago. Electronic Keyboards for Young Musicians (Part 2)
Funded Nov 5, 2008Thank you so much for your kindness in funding "Electronic Keyboards for Young Musicians (part 2)!" Your generous donation has funded an electronic keyboard which will be added to the keyboard lab in the music room at our elementary school. This will allow more youg students in grades K-8 to perform on the keyboards, compose music, and create. A laptop computer with music software is also hooked up to the keyboards, allowing students to compose music on the computer and music keyboard. Your gift will be enjoyed by students for years.

Hawaiian Beat In Music Class Part 2!

Your kind donation has purchased 50 sets on puili, the traditional hawaiian rhythm instrument made of bamboo, along with a CD of accompaniment songs and instructions. The puili will be used by students in grades K-2 at the 2 elementary schools I teach at, in order to teach students fundamentals of music including beat, rhythm, dynamics, and tempo. Music Students Need Music Books and CD Library
Funded Jun 21, 2008Thank you for your kindness in funding "Music Students Need Music Books and CD Library!" Your generosity has purchased 15 children's books related to music, many of which include CDs. Titles include Miles the Crocodile Plays the Colors of Jazz, Abiyoyo, This Land is Your Land, and Puff the Magic Dragon Among others. My classroom lacks a classroom library, so these boks will be the beginning of a large music library I hope to build through Donors Choose! Hand Bell Choir for Elementary Music Students!

Your kind donation has purchased a total of 5 sets of handbells to be used by music students in grades 1-4. Each set of handbells includes one full octave of bells. Multicultural Cinderellas and Cinderfellas in Music Class
Funded Dec 22, 2007Thank you for your generosity in funding "Multicultural Cinderellas and Cinderfellas in Music Class!" Your donation has purchased multiple copies of 8 children's books which are based on the Cinderella story. The 8 books take place in settings around the world including Africa, China, Ireland, and Mexico. The stories have been rewritten to include boys and girls as main characters. The books will be used as part of our opera unit when students learn about the opera La Cenerentolla, or Cinderella by Rossini.
