  • Classroom Supplies

    Funded Apr 17, 2021

With the pandemic many students did not have access to basic supplies. When the students returned to the classroom I wanted to ensure that the students had a classroom environment that was welcoming. I wanted the students to come back to school with no worries. I am very grateful that with your help my students came back to a classroom that had the materials they needed. They came back to school happy to see they did not need anything. My students families were also grateful because a huge burden was lifted.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Logue

  • Ms. Fabre's Fifth Grade Class

    Funded Oct 31, 2019

From the bottom of my heart I want to say thank you very much for donating to my classroom! My students received the headphones and are working very hard on their 1:1 ipads. In my classroom our students have ipads that they use for educational purposes. My students needed headphones in order to hear their lessons. One of the programs that requires headphones is Core Lexia. "Lexia Core5 Reading is a comprehensive technology-based literacy program that extends learning for students who are advanced and accelerates learning for students who struggle. It's an all-in-one stellar package that seamlessly integrates into the classroom. We use this program every day for at least 20 minutes. Another program we use that requires headphones is Zearn. Zearn is a math program where students learn at their own pace with software-based lessons that feature personalized feedback, digital manipulatives, and paper-and-pencil transfer. Without your donations my students would not be able to learn from these amazing programs to further their learning.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Logue

  • Ms. Fab's Flexible Seating Part Dos

    Funded Feb 5, 2019

I want to say from the bottom of my heart thank you for providing my classroom with seating that will creating a flexible atmosphere. I want yo start with the Black History Bulletin board. I work in a predominately African American school. I wanted the students in this building to see their ancestors on my classroom door. Each time a student walks by my classroom. They stop and read the biography of each individual. Students are not seeing representatives of their selves. I want them to see their history and learn about the past. The chairs my kiddos LOVE THEM. When we do a read aloud, or any activity in general I see them smiling. I see them smile because they have the opportunity to move around and not be restricted to their desks.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Logue

  • Ms. Fab's Flexible Seating

    Funded Sep 1, 2018

Thank you so much for your donations to my classroom. Without your generosity my students would not have been exposed to African American leaders. I have read a page each day from our Little Leaders Bold women in Black History. My students have been exposed to Harriet Tubman who is our schools mascot. They have learned about her courage and are going out of their way to learn even more information about the Black leaders. Our posters in our room of African American heroes has made our room full of life. The students since day 1 of the school year read the poster and state "Ms. Fabre I did not know who Althea Gibson was until now." My heart became so full when I heard that, I almost cried. The flexible seating in the classroom has helped all of my students become the best they can be. My students have options on how they want to sit. They can choose whether to do their work on the ground or in a chair. Thank you again, without your support my students would have been exposed to the Black leaders and variety of seating.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Logue

This school year I want to make an impact on my students, and I genuinely believe creating a classroom that has flexible seating will impact their learning. You are probably thinking "what in the world is flexible seating?" Well, a flexible seating classroom looks like this is; there no traditional seating charts. They are replaced with seating arrangements that allow the students to sit where they choose. Children need to move. Flexible seating will enable them to wobble, rock, bounce, lean or stand, which increases oxygen flow to the brain, blood flow, and core strength. Students feel empowered by having some degree of choice and control over their environment. Flexible seating allows students to choose where they work and with whom. The items I wanted specifically for my project will enable students the ability to move. I picked the plastic stack stools for students because they will help students with focus. The seats will cover five students at a center. The laptop desk will benefit students who choose to sit in an area that does not have a table; this will help four students. A student can select the option of sitting on the ground criss-cross applesauce with the Portable Lap Desk. The Wobble Cushion was chosen for a student who has sensory needs in the classroom. The last two items on the list the Bold Women in Black History and Famous African Americans Bulletin Board is to inspire my students of color the greatness they can achieve. I believe students of color are not exposed to heroes in the POC community. This school year I want to create a learning environment that showcases their communities.
