Bring Food Chains Alive! Dissect An Owl Hairball Today!
Funded Jan 12, 2012I truly can't fully express my joy, excitement, and thanks for your donation to my project. It is wonderful to see that you share my vision for reaching children through science. This owl pellet dissection unit was a huge hit with all my students. My fourth graders learned so much about the skeletal structure of animals, how owls fit into the food chain, how owls have adapted to survive, and how to conduct themselves during a science lab investigation. These skills will serve them well as they move on to fifth grade and beyond. Having enough supplies so that each one of the fourth graders at my school could participate really enhanced the learning experience. Some students talked about the project for weeks, both leading up to and after the experience! Projects like this one may spark a student to decide on pursuing a career in science, and for this I thank each of you. I hope you enjoy the posted photos and get a feeling of how much my fourth grade science classes all enjoyed this science lab that you so kindly funded.
Thank you for your continuous support to our classroom! I am most thankful!

Shae's Outreach Project: Sharing Student Work Via Our Blog
Funded Jan 1, 2011This is just a small token of my gratitude for your generous donation to my classroom. Our printer/scanner/copier is a big hit with all my students. The moment the box entered our classroom, my students started learning. They helped unpack the printer, hook it up, network it to our existing computer, and install the printer's software to our classroom computer. This was the first time some of them ever had the chance to interact with a piece of computer hardware in a meaningful way, and that was just the first 30 minutes of it being in our classroom! Since then, students have scanned work in to our computer for sharing via our classroom blog and our interactive white board. From the emergency missing copy of a student's worksheet to the group of students that decided to use our printer/scanner/copier to inspire them to create their own classroom newspaper, this piece of hardware has become an integrated part of our day to day learning. Thank you once again for supporting our classroom.”
With gratitude,
