  • Shelf Care

    Funded Nov 19, 2022

Thanks for helping me add a bookshelf to my classroom! This shelf has allowed me to make our classroom library much more organized and appealing. It has reduced the space I need to store books so now I can use that space as additional student workspaces with flexible seating.

Our students deserve to have an organized and visually appealing place to learn in! It was not functional to have all our books stored in random bins of varying sizes. The bookshelf just makes everything better for my students and I!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hellman

  • Snacks and Sweets for School Success

    Funded Sep 17, 2022

Thank you for helping me stock my classroom with snacks and treats. Many students come to school without having had breakfast. Providing them with a breakfast bar can help set them up for a successful day. Candy and sweets can also be a great motivator for certain kids. I have used the treats to motivate students through difficult assignments like essays and end of module assessments, and also to reward and reinforce positive behaviors. My students and I are appreciative of all the support donors like you provide!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hellman

  • It's Electric

    Funded Sep 20, 2022

Funding the items in this project has allowed my students and I to organize our classroom technology to keep it in good condition so students can use it for years to come. I have assigned students different jobs for how to take care of the technology items, and they love being in charge of keeping things neat, organized, and safe. It is the little, unglamorous things like this that keep classrooms and schools running so we can give our kids the best experiences possible! Thank you for your generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hellman

  • Keeping It Coordinated

    Funded Aug 9, 2022

One of my goals for this school year was to intentionally design a classroom space that will maximize student achievement, and also be a place that is just pleasant for me, my students, and my co-teachers to work in since we all spend so much time there. I feel that with this project, I have been successful in this goal. We get so many compliments when other teachers come through the room! Students are happy to be here. They love getting to change the LED light colors as an incentive for completing their work. Maintaining and changing the classroom calendar is a great job for students to promote accountability and responsibility. Thanks for helping me fund this project!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hellman

  • Strong Start

    Funded Aug 1, 2022

Thanks for your generosity in giving to this project. Even those these supplies aren't glamorous, they are critically important to starting off our school year on the right foot! I was able to share paper towels and tissues with the entire fourth and fifth grade teams at my school. This ensures classrooms can be clean and hygienic.

My new classroom is a bit storage-challenged, so the rolling cart has gone a long way in providing additional flexible storage for classroom materials. I share the pencil sharpener with my roommate, another special educator, and now we never have to worry about dull pencils!”

  • Dream in Color!

    Funded Aug 17, 2021

Thank you for bringing this project to life with your contributions. My students often comment how much they enjoy my classroom environment, with the calming and relaxing effect of the lights. We have also been letting our artistic sides shine through, with high quality colored pencils from this project helping us make beautiful and colorful creations. With all the difficulties of this school year, I appreciate the support of donors and classroom supporters more than ever, as I continue to seek to provide new and enriching experiences for my students.”

    With gratitude,

  • Staying Safe, Face to Face

    Funded Jul 20, 2020

Thank you for contributing to this project so I can make this classroom a safer space for me and my students. Now that students are back in the school building, we use our air purifiers every day, our masks, and soap and sanitizer to stay healthy and safe. While my school has been extremely conscientious with providing sufficient PPE and other safety and health supplies, it is comforting to know I will have plenty for the rest of this school year thanks to donors like you. In these times of great uncertainty, I feel supported by the Donors Choose community.”

  • Holiday Treats

    Funded Dec 18, 2020

I appreciate your contributions to this project for holiday gifts for my students. I was able to put together gift bags and drop them off at my students' homes. It was great to see the students, and they were so excited to see their teacher and get a little treat.

These gift bags were not only fun but useful. The students use the notebooks, whiteboards, markers, and headphones every day to help complete their schoolwork. It is great to be able to provide school supplies to families who may be financially stressed due to the pandemic or other factors.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hellman

  • Perfect Attendance Movie Night

    Funded Dec 15, 2020

Thank you for your contributions to this project. Thanks to your, our Attendance Committee was able to put together treat bags for students who had perfect attendance. The students picked up the bags, and were given a Zoom link to join for a virtual movie party. Students got to hang out with the other attendance awardees, watch their movie, and enjoy their treat bags to make the experience feel extra special.

It can be hard to motivate students during virtual learning, so thank you for helping us create this project to celebrate our students who have overcome enormous obstacles to get to school every day.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hellman

  • Our Class Is On Fire!

    Funded Jul 22, 2020

Thank you for making sure that all of my students have the technology they need to be successful in this unprecedented school year. The students who received this Amazon Fire Tablets log on to class on time every day and complete all their work. This is a radical change from the Spring, when these students never logged on and never completed any work. These students have always wanted to succeed, but they simply did not have the tools to participate in online learning. Now, with the tablets, they can be fully engaged in learning!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hellman

My students are joyful, rambunctious, high energy and full of life. They all have big dreams- to go to college, to be lawyers, to be basketball players, to be astronomers, and more. I teach a self-contained, special education class in Baltimore, at a Title One school where one hundred percent of students receive free lunch. All of my scholars are unique in their personalities and learning styles, and demonstrate their knowledge in different ways. In my classroom, they learn critical academic, behavioral, and life skills. I want to give them all the tools they need to be successful and accomplish their goals.
