I work in Massachusetts and support a diverse student population. I teach small groups of 7th grade special education students, with a focus on reading. These students have a variety of learning disabilities which include, communication disorders, specific learning issues, and health related or emotional concerns. The use of an e-reader would be a great way for me to differentiate my reading instruction based on each student's level of ability and area of interest. Our classroom is tiny and it would be easier for us to store e-readers, rather than tons of books. Our local library offers a wide range of free books online so that I can avoid paying for constant downloads. We would be very grateful to anyone that could help us to support this endeavor. Students are naturally drawn to technology and this format would be more cost effective rather than purchasing multiple leveled texts. Most students are of limited income and will not otherwise have access to such a wonderful reading tool.
