Calm Minds, Bright Futures: Support Our Classroom Wellness Hub
Funded Sep 18, 2024Thanks to your generosity, our classroom has been transformed into a space where students feel supported, connected, and empowered to care for their mental well-being. The board games and soothing accessories have become integral to our mental health days, offering students an opportunity to unwind, bond with their peers, and recharge emotionally. For example, during one recent session, students collaborated over a strategic board game, demonstrating teamwork and problem-solving skills while genuinely enjoying themselves. These moments of connection have not only reinforced their sense of community but also provided a safe outlet for stress and creativity.
Looking ahead, I plan to integrate these resources into more structured activities, such as social-emotional learning lessons and collaborative projects. For example, I'm designing a group project where students use the games to simulate real-world problem-solving scenarios, enhancing their communication and critical thinking skills. These next steps will build on the foundation of emotional resilience and teamwork, ensuring that each student continues to feel valued and equipped to handle life's challenges. Your support has truly made a lasting impact, and I can't thank you enough for being part of this journey.”

Funded Sep 18, 2024On behalf of the Orthopaedic Medical Magnet High School staff and students, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for your generous support of our Period Positivity Pack Project. Your contributions have had an incredible impact on the lives of our students, and we couldn't have achieved this milestone without you.
Thanks to your generosity, we have provided sanitary napkins in every classroom, ensuring that no student has to face embarrassment, discomfort, or disruption to their education because of their period. For so many students, this project has been life-changing, students are easily able to access the resources they need across our campus. Students no longer have to run around in the middle of an emergency, looking to see who among them has the resources they need.
Your support has been about so much more than providing sanitary napkins—it's about giving students the freedom to learn, grow, and thrive without unnecessary barriers. You have made a real, lasting difference, and for that, we are deeply grateful.”

Funded Jun 30, 2020I cannot thank you enough for your act of kindness. Distance learning is challenging and your donation definitely helped me with providing students with resources. My students were so grateful for your support and have truly enjoyed their book reading groups. These groups have helped facilitate conversations around race, class, gender and social justice.
As an educator I learned long ago that students only care about learning when they feel that the curriculum is relevant in their daily lives. Students conversations around these books have helped them understand that the problems facing our society today stem from the failures to properly address long standing issues. Through their discussions students have learned that it is important for individuals of all ages to actively fight for a more just world. As a result several of my students volunteered to work voting stations during this election cycle.
Please know that you played a role in showing students that they have agency and that they can help make the world a more just place.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Mejia

Funded Oct 1, 2014I want to thank all of you for donating to my students Book Club. My students were really excited when I told them about our Donor's Choose project. They were even more excited when I told them that their project was fully funded! They anxiously awaited for the delivery of their novels, every morning they showed up to my room and asked me to track the order. Watching my students open up the boxes brought a smile to my face they were thrilled to receive their new books. They were so excited they immediately began taking selfies with them.
Our Book Reading Club will begin reading The Uglies series as soon as we come back from winter break. We will then finish up the semester with The Help and Unwind. The over arching questions we will discuss are; What makes a society just? How do individuals transform society? What attributes should a just society have? Is a just society even possible? Our goal is to look at the larger societal problems addressed in these novels and examine our own society.
Most of the members in the book club are sophomore's who are currently preparing to take the S.A.T.'s, even though the BRC is just an after school club I want to ensure that the students walk away with tools that will help them be successful in the SAT. We are using the books to help raise students vocabulary, every time the students encounter a word that they do not understand they write it down in a note card and try to define the word using context clues. I keep a duplicate copy of their words to ensure that students are studying their words and being held accountable.
Words cannot even begin to express my gratitude. Your donation has shown my students that they do matter and that there are people out there who are willing to help them.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Mejia
