  • Fun, Engaging And Interactive Reading With A Laptop

    Funded Sep 15, 2014

Thank you for your dedication to support our class and all our enthusiastic learners. Your support is what has allowed my students to access online fun compatible interactive educational programs. Please know that some of the programs that our children have accessed are: classical literature fables like, The Three Little Pigs, The Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel, and Peter Pan among many more. In the area of mathematics we learned numbers sense games, place value, and geometry. Our students learn math and literature in an effortless manner. They are excited and fully engaged to learn because they are learning via their (the students' ) preferred learning modality. I cannot thank you enough for your generosity and support. Thank you for making a difference in helping us access updated and compatible online programs with the help of our new laptop. Thank you. You are very much appreciated! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Felix

    Donors Choose,

My students and I would like to thank you for your benevolence in helping our class reach our goal to get a laptop for the classroom. The students that have trouble with reading have been able to practice and enhance their skills by listening to stories on websites like speakaboos.com and storynory.com. The more advanced students are able to practice typing their stories on Microsoft Word and look up words through the online dictionaries. The class has thoroughly enjoyed using technology in the classroom. We have been able to use the laptop as an educational tool and for a reward for children. The children that do well on their homework get a chance to use the computer to play educational games. Our class has shown an exciting improvement on their desire and motivation to learn. Words cannot express the gratitude we feel for receiving the laptop. Thank you for your kindness and help.”

I Pads are important in the classroom for several different educational purposes. They are an important and simple way to show textbooks. This is a less expensive way of filling a classroom with all sorts of books and materials, occupying less space as well as providing convenience. Textbooks can feature lively, colorful images and clear audio. Children do well when the lesson is fun, interactive and colorful.

Younger children especially, learn better when colorful pictures are presented in the lessons, with videos and sounds. Older students will find it easier to carry these tiny, light weight tablets rather than lugging around heavy backpacks. Software is another plus for both, students and educators. There is never a lack of extended material and interactive worksheets for practicing all courses, whether it's math, science, history and languages. There are, also, some excellent software packages available for the advancement of foreign languages. Learning languages at an early age makes students summarily compatible in our global business world. For all students, this will provide an open door to worldwide communication with other students, and eventually with community members, and stakeholders.

Taking into account that students will eventually be employers and/or employees among different cultures, the opportunity for interaction, networking and similar learning techniques is an extremely important resource. Please accept my most sincere thanks for your donation which directly impacts my students in the classroom.”

The greatest and most meaningful impact on the students using the iPads is that they can read, with fluency, to all of the animated Dr. Seuss stories. Due to the rich and colorful animations the children provide undivided attention to the stories development. The class has shown improvement in their Friday spelling tests now that they are able to view and practice their spelling words on the iPad during the week. Our visual learners have also enjoyed watching Bill Nye and other science videos on YouTube to learn about different science topics they did not understand in their books. The class enjoys practicing their math skills by playing games on applications like Splash Math and Math Animations. The class has expressed their excitement about using the technology to practice typing and using a keyboard. By having the iPads the children have been able to take turns practicing typing and key recognition. Please accept my most sincere gratitude for your kindness.”

It is important for all children to experience the impact of music. Motivation to participate in music is limited and is not consistent across the varied socioeconomic levels of student populations at our school. Music implementation throughout my lessons will educate children to be a well rounded student supports how music uses both sides of the brain that is valuable in all areas of development. Music can portray any mood, and it can grab a student’s interest in order to make it good. Learning to sing and keep rhythm develops coordination. Music will allow them to think about complex patterns or about how to make their part sound better? They will learn to find the details and how they can change to adjust tone or intonation. The students will learn to be aware of what every other musician does at every time so that they can communicate and cooperate. Studies indicate that students who study music achieve higher test scores, regardless of socioeconomic background.
