This project includes thoughtfully selected items that will enhance my students’ learning environment. Being able to provide effective learning centers is a priority. Many students struggle with phonological awareness which affects every aspect of their learning process. The alphabet magnets and cookie sheets will be used for students to work on phonics skills and spelling words. The dry erase boards will be used for practice spelling tests, phonics lessons, small group activities, and various other activities. To provide differentiation, one of the centers will include the use of a Chromebook. Students will use headphones to listen to a story as it is read aloud. The computer mouse will make navigating the Chromebooks easier. To accommodate multi-level readers, additional books for the classroom library are being requested so that every student has an equal opportunity to read. Students will be able to "check-out" books to borrow for home use. This will ensure they have an opportunity to practice their reading skills at home. Book bins will make organizing the classroom library in an efficient manner. All of these materials will also be beneficial during tutorial sessions. By donating to this project, one will provide the tools needed to help close educational gaps brought about by school closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic and inclement weather conditions. These literacy centers will also increase student engagement thereby increasing their academic knowledge and achievement. Thank you for your consideration and partnership.
