  • Read Across America Celebration 2023

    Funded Feb 10, 2023

I am absolutely grateful to all the donors who made this rocket happen for my students. Read Across America is a celebration we have at our school with all students. My students look forward to this every year but this year will be different. We will have books, prizes and treats during the week. Our students are going to be so excited and I can’t wait to share photos with all my donors. Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Olvera

  • A Reading Restaurant with Elves and Books Part 2

    Funded Oct 28, 2022

I first off want to thank you once again for helping this project come alive! My students were beyond ecstatic when they found out our project got funded!

This project helped start our Reading Restaurant event! Our 5th grade students dressed up as elves and were so excited! They wore an elf apron and an elf headband. They loved dressing up for our little students. The elves read gingerbread books to various students throughout the day. This helped them become aware of how literacy works and how we are all different in our own way.

After they were read to, they decorated a gingerbread man cookie with the icing and sprinkles we received from this project. They were amazed with their final products! You should have seen their faces.

This event was a huge success and it was all in thanks to you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Olvera

  • Healthier Reading in a Clean Library With a Robot Vacuum!

    Funded Sep 7, 2022

I want to start off by saying and giving a huge thank you to all the donors who made this project come to life. My students were absolutely thrilled when they saw our robot vacuum for the first time

Many students do not have access to this type of cleaning technology and it is new to them. I was able to show them what it is and how it is used to benefit our classroom.

I showed my students how I can connect this to another device and how we use a map to get cleanings done. We created rooms and named them. Students were thrilled! My older students now fight to be the one to start our robot vacuum and use it! Thank you so very much! Cleaners floors equals healthier students!”

I want to thank each and every single one of you from the bottom of my heart. This project is going to bring out so many smiles this new year. My students work so hard reaching their goals and I am so proud of them for sticking to them. It is definitely not easy, but they are driven when it comes to challenges. They are going to be so ecstatic when they find out about our reading celebration when they return to school. Thank you all once again for making this happen for our amazing Sharp Scholars! :)”

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

I want to thank all the donors from the bottom of my heart. As an educator, it is always challenging coming up with the items and materials to help make your students successful. These items will be given to various students who meet their reading goals. I always talk about goals in life and how important they are. Thank you so much for making this happen. My students are going to be ecstatic when they find out our project was funded.”

Wow I am so grateful to you all for your generosity. As an educator who sees over 470 students, there’s lots that can be sone and spent on my students. • Literacy Battle With Friends and Books

    Funded Aug 10, 2022

I want to take the time to give a heartfelt thank you! Your donations and generosity towards my project will make a huge and continue to make a big impact. My students have been practicing with the books for Battle of the books and have been having friendly competitions with one another. Eventually in February, we will have a friendly battle with other elementary schools. I have been able to read with my students and ask them a variety of questions based off of what they have read. You should see the excitement on their faves during practice. They are all smiles and because of you, for making this possible.”

  • Sit, Imagine and Create Anywhere in the Library

    Funded Oct 7, 2022

I want to take this time to give a heartfelt thank you for making this project happen. I see over 470 students on a weekly basis in my library and boy do our students look forward to visiting our library. They work so hard during the day and don't get the time to actually relax and read. Here in the library, I allow students to read wherever they like and I feel it is so important to offer a variety of seating for our variety of learners. I get so many students coming into the library asking for a more type of flexible seating so their wish was my command. Thank you donors!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Olvera

This classroom project was brought to life by The Meadows Foundation and 4 other donors.
When students see or visit a library, they think of comfort, home, or being at peace. I am constantly having students coming to the library in the morning, during lunch or after school to read and get away and I feel bad when they don’t have comfortable seating on the floor or anywhere in the library. This is also great for special need students who hate being at those high tables! When I love to read aloud to students, I dislike when I see some of my students squirmy and uncomfortable. I believe in reading corners/nooks and creating these welcoming environments for students, which is why I absolutely love this new, trendy, STEM learning furniture!
