  • STEM Bins and More

    Funded Sep 6, 2024

These STEM bins have been such a success in my classroom. I've seen my kids go from "I'm bored" to constantly asking to use the STEM bins. My students are having more conversations, getting more creative, exploring different ideas and thoughts using these materials.

It has been encouraging to have activities for them to do when they are done with the lesson and have a little extra time, or on Fridays, when we are able to spend more time with the bins. It's fun to hear their conversations and to see them practicing social skills, as well -- this was a surprise benefit of the bins!

All that to say, thank you so incredibly much for donating these supplies to my classroom and supporting my students this year. We appreciate it so big!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Harding

  • Financial Foundations

    Funded Aug 22, 2022

This is my 2nd year with my current students. Last year, I noticed how much they loved playing with our play money. However, when they played, there was no true understanding of its value or how to use it effectively. In preparing for this school year, I read about how people develop their lifelong spending habits by the age of 7. Even though my students are 9, 10 and 11, I was motivated to find a way to focus on developing these financial skills before my students go to middle school.

We received our materials very quickly. Because of this, we've already dipped our toes into earning and spending money in our classroom. The students are obsessed with earning money to spend in our classroom store. Some students are quick spenders, earning just what they need to buy the lower priced items. However, I have a few students who already have a habit of saving their money for the higher priced items in the store.

In using these materials, I'm able to better recognize skills we need to work on in math and how I can address the gaps in their financial foundations. Soon, we will begin using the materials to learn how to make change, how to exchange small bills for bigger bills and vice versa. I'm so excited to continue seeing the impact these materials have on my students. I'm so grateful for your generosity!”

  • Decoding Our Way to Literacy!

    Funded Sep 20, 2019

Thank you so much for your donations to this project. It was for sure a crazy year and it would've been even crazier had we not had these resources!

The decoding book helped my students better grasp the materials because they were seeing the curriculum the way it was intended. It made it much easier for me to teach them with the right materials and made the overall learning experience more enjoyable and less stressful.

The flashcards continued to be helpful even during at home learning. I was able to use the flashcards with the students over video conference and I know they would much rather see the printed flashcards than my sometimes crazy handwriting.

Again, thank you for donating and supporting my students. It's a crazy time in education and to have support from you is priceless. Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Harding

  • The Book Challenge of 2018!

    Funded Sep 7, 2018

Your contribution to our classroom has made a world of difference in my students' lives. They have books they cannot wait to take home and read with their parents and siblings. I have one student who gets a new book each day and her excitement has helped her improve her reading skills tremendously! She is reading aloud to her peers with barely any mistakes. My other students have more books to choose from. Having so many books to choose from allows them to explore different genres, authors, and topics. I have several students who are reading non-fiction who wouldn't read non-fiction before. It's such a joy to watch them explore all the different books out there and grow in their reading abilities. So, with all that being said, thank you from our classroom! We are so grateful for your love and support. It means the world to us!”

  • Learning in Full Color

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Having a color printer doesn't sound like a big deal. However, it's a huge deal in a Special Education classroom. Having colorful resources that I can custom make for each child like visual schedules or file folder games make such a huge impact on our learning environment. Getting to learn in color makes learning and playing games fun.

For my students, it's so exciting to have games, schedules, rewards and resources that are filled with color instead of black and white. It means we get to work together to create things and print them out in the way the students envisioned them. It's also awesome that the students get the activities or resources immediately since the printer is in the classroom.

One my students has a reward system where if he completes all of his work and follows directions each day, his Pokemon drawings can be copied on our printer and then laminated so that he can keep them forever. It's a big deal for him to see his work and be able to make copies on nice paper that we can laminate. It sounds silly but these kinds of rewards work for the kids and help them learn more effectively.

Thank you so much for your donation and what it means for our classroom!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Harding

  • Books Books Galore!

    Funded Nov 5, 2017

Your donation to our project has truly made a massive impact on my students. We recently had a book fair and a majority of my students chose books that were from your donation. Several parents told me of how their child was reading at home. They were actually choosing to read instead of watch TV or play video games. That is a massive win for me! One of my students with autism is particularly obsessed with the Dog Man books that were donated. Both the boys and the girls are loving Junie B Jones and the Box car Children books. One student in particular really challenged himself by reading one of the Nancy Drew mysteries. It has been such a joy to see the students engaged in reading. To see them enjoying these books as much as I enjoyed them when I was their age is unbelievable.

Your donation has brought life and wonder into my classroom, and I can't thank you enough for making this happen. Thank you for all you've done for this new(ish) teacher and even more for my students! You've given them the gift of books to read, of new worlds to discover. Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Harding

This year, my school switched up the Special Education department so that each teacher is working to his or her strengths. Instead of teaching solely self-contained, I am teaching ELA to the students in my school who have various disabilities, including my kids from last year. With this new position, I am fostering a love of reading and writing by providing my students with a fun learning environment where they can create and be themselves. I want all the kids who come to my classroom to love reading and writing as much as I loved it in elementary school.
