Funded Mar 1, 2019We had such a blast learning about biomedical engineering and creating prosthetics for broken toys. The students first learned what biomedical engineering was and learned about an engineer who had created affordable prosthetic hands for those in need. We learned about 3-D printers then I introduced the materials! The kids were so excited to see what they had received from your generous donation. They first planned and created a blueprint for what their prosthetic was going to look like, then they created a "prototype" of their design, tested their prototype, and finally they made the finished product with the 3-D pens! We made a poster describing how we used the engineering-design process in this project and that was their final grade of the year. Thank you so much for providing this opportunity for my class. I was so freaked out when I learned I had to teach about biomedical engineering with the new standards, but this made it so hands-on for the kids and it was such a fun project for us all! From the bottom of my heart, thank you!”
With gratitude,
