  • After School Community: Snacks + Comfort

    Funded Feb 13, 2025

Thank you so much for completing another project with me! This came at just the right time as we are running super low on snacks and I recently found out that we may be expanding the club. We receiving funding to start Esports at our district middle schools which will follow the existing high school programs. We’ve already begun receiving additional equipment to play the games we’ve already been playing at Games Club. These two hours a week are so special to students and they always want more. Thank you for helping me provide them a safe space to spend their time after school! Trust me, the students are very, very appreciative and they are often surprised that anyone would care enough to provide them these snacks. Thank you from all of us!”

  • Cozy Classroom Corner

    Funded Dec 10, 2024

We did it again! Thank you so much for making this cozy corner possible! I am so excited to get rid of the old rug and have a new rug to show students how much they matter. Clean, supportive resources communicate to students that their education is important and they are valued. Thank you for helping me communicate that message!”

Thank you so much for funding this project! These are the essentials that we need to start the year strong! It was the best surprise to see this project got funded today and such a relief to know that I will have what I need on day one! I can’t wait to receive these supplies and to distribute them to students. Thank you so much for supporting my students and know that your impact is direct and meaningful. Thank you for putting these materials in the hands of students that both need and deserve them! We wouldn’t have these supplies if it weren’t for you.”

  • Feed My After-School Community

    Funded Jun 6, 2024

Thank you so much for generously supporting this club! These snacks are essential to the club and even motivates students to attend. This encourages students to spend time together in a supervised, safe environment. Additionally, students have bonded and created friendships by attending. Your impact on their social and emotional well-being is so significant. As the person who gets to witness this, I want you to know that your impact cannot be understated. Seeing the impact just here and knowing how many projects have been funded with the help of the DonorsChoose community, I can only imagine the way your impact is multiplied and how the positivity you brought to the lives of these students will help them bring more positivity to the world. Thank you again!”

  • Games Club: After School Community

    Funded Nov 28, 2023

Thank you for supporting my after school club! I am now one of only 3 clubs that meet at my school. I have a regular group of 10-15 students in addition to occasional visitors. One student is the older sister of my student from last year and it has been great to get to know her. She said that she attends because of her brother encouraging her to. She also told me that she mainly attends so that she doesn't have to go home. There is nothing going on at home that is concerning, but as is typical for young teens, she is irritated by her parents. Providing students with a space to be kids is so important.

Because of the way our community is designed, students have very few places to meet to have fun. They can go to the mall where they get kicked out for loitering or being energetic kiddos. They can go to each other's houses when permitted. They often meet each other in outside locations. This provides them with a safe, indoor location to hang out and be themselves. Other staff comment on how much patience I must have to handle their chaos because it can be noisy when they pass by my room. The way I see it is that they deserve the chance to let loose and not hold back. They are loud, but they are being kids and so often, they aren't allowed to do that. It is a safe place to be a kid and that is why I give up two and half hours every week to support this.

The snacks are essential as students are with me for 2 or more hours before they ride the bus home. They are ravenous and trust that these snacks have very much been enjoyed. The students and I are grateful to you for making that happen.”

  • 6th Grade Outdoor Camp Gear!

    Funded Oct 12, 2023

Thank you so much for supporting the warmth and wellbeing of our students! We had the best time at 6th grade camp! It was very cold and snowy so we would not have survived without the hand warmers and gloves. Students were in constant need and it felt like a privilege to be able to fulfill all of their needs. This is so rare for us, so we truly could not be more grateful here for the funding we received from this project. Students loved their time at camp despite the cold and this project was a huge reason why. The impact was felt by the entire 6th grade and I hope the pictures I will post capture some of the fun we had. Additionally, we had leftover supplies that we were able to leave at camp for the next school as the weather was predicted to be very cold. This camp is owned by the school district, so students from the entire district can benefit from the resources you provided.

I got to witness a magical experience which was a student seeing snow for the first time ever since he recently moved from Colombia! I also saw students having fun, connecting with nature, and being their wild selves. This was our last year going to camp as a school since it will be moving to 5th grade and our students weren't ready to go home! This was a great end to our time at camp and we couldn't have done it without you. Thank you so, so much! The direct impact of this donation cannot be undersold.”

  • Updated Spanish Curriculum

    Funded Sep 20, 2022

I am sorry for the delay in sending an additional thank you. I am happy to report that this curriculum is still being used and we have access to more curriculum since we now have district support for our curriculum. I continue to use the TPT gift cards to purchase valuable resources for my heritage class. These classes are new for our district and we have not settled on a curriculum yet. Being able to purchase an activity or project has saved me so much time and stress. It is really hard to create a plan for a class without any guidance or supports. This fills in some of the gaps and it means the world to me. It also means that I get to focus on completing other work like grading and family contact.

Some of the things I have purchased are Black history month bulletin borders, digital escape rooms, Selena Quintanilla reflections, and music mania (one song from each Spanish-speaking countries). My favorite are self-checking forms so that students get instant feedback. Some examples of topics for those activities are 12 grapes of luck, many notable latinas, chocolate, maps, country flags, country capitals, time, months, days of the week, Las Posadas, and los Reyes Magos.”

The classroom environment is so important and it should feel safe, inviting, comfortable and ACTIVE! I try to address the diversity of needs amongst students while holding students to high standards and supporting their growth as Spanish speakers. My students are 6th graders who have just arrived to middle school and are beginning to see themselves as members of the global community. I always have two goals which is that students learn Spanish and appreciate other cultures. Help me achieve these goals by supplying the materials we need.
