  • Feed My After-School Community

    Funded Jun 6, 2024

Thank you for supporting my after school club! I am now one of only 3 clubs that meet at my school. I have a regular group of 10-15 students in addition to occasional visitors. One student is the older sister of my student from last year and it has been great to get to know her. She said that she attends because of her brother encouraging her to. She also told me that she mainly attends so that she doesn't have to go home. There is nothing going on at home that is concerning, but as is typical for young teens, she is irritated by her parents. Providing students with a space to be kids is so important.

Because of the way our community is designed, students have very few places to meet to have fun. They can go to the mall where they get kicked out for loitering or being energetic kiddos. They can go to each other's houses when permitted. They often meet each other in outside locations. This provides them with a safe, indoor location to hang out and be themselves. Other staff comment on how much patience I must have to handle their chaos. The way I see it is that they deserve the chance to let loose and not hold back. They are loud, but they are being kids and so often, they aren't allowed to do that. It is a safe place to be a kid and that is why I give up two and half hours every week to support this.

The snacks are essential as students are with me for 2 or more hours before they ride the bus home. They are ravenous and trust that these snacks have very much been enjoyed. The students and I are grateful to you for making that happen.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hamilton

  • New Year, New Resources

    Funded Oct 11, 2023

Thank you for supporting this project! We use these resources on a daily basis. Most of these resources have been distributed to students so that they have the supplies they need. The folders served as our portfolios for the whole year!

Throughout the school year, I was able to give students pencil pouches and notebooks whenever they needed them. Students often did not arrive to school with supplies so it was really impactful to get these students necessary supplies. Students were so excited when I told them they could keep these supplies.

Students felt supported and valued when they received these resources! Thank you for helping my students feel important and these resources will be used during this upcoming year so your impact is going to be felt for even longer!”

  • Hungry, Hungry Students

    Funded Aug 24, 2023

Snacks! These are long gone as students knew they could come to me when they were hungry. I love to able to give students the things they need and food is such a basic need. Being hungry is a major distraction to students and being able to fulfill that need lets students learn more effectively.

Students don't always have systems in place at home to insure they have food at school. Additionally, some students depend on school lunch to provide all they need throughout the day. Unfortunately, many students won't eat school lunch or are still hungry after eating it due to limited portion sizes. These snacks helped fill that gap.

Thank you for seeing the value in feeding my hungry learners!”

  • After School Community: Snacks + Comfort

    Funded Feb 13, 2025

Thank you so much for completing another project with me! This came at just the right time as we are running super low on snacks and I recently found out that we may be expanding the club. We receiving funding to start Esports at our district middle schools which will follow the existing high school programs. We’ve already begun receiving additional equipment to play the games we’ve already been playing at Games Club. These two hours a week are so special to students and they always want more. Thank you for helping me provide them a safe space to spend their time after school! Trust me, the students are very, very appreciative and they are often surprised that anyone would care enough to provide them these snacks. Thank you from all of us!”

  • Cozy Classroom Corner

    Funded Dec 10, 2024

We did it again! Thank you so much for making this cozy corner possible! I am so excited to get rid of the old rug and have a new rug to show students how much they matter. Clean, supportive resources communicate to students that their education is important and they are valued. Thank you for helping me communicate that message!”

Thank you so much for funding this project! These are the essentials that we need to start the year strong! The classroom environment is so important and it should feel safe, inviting, comfortable and ACTIVE! I try to address the diversity of needs amongst students while holding students to high standards and supporting their growth as Spanish speakers. My students are 6th graders who have just arrived to middle school and are beginning to see themselves as members of the global community. I always have two goals which is that students learn Spanish and appreciate other cultures. Help me achieve these goals by supplying the materials we need.
