I made the decision last year to incorporate flexible seating in my classroom. Students frequently work in groups and at stations to complete tasks and the traditional style of a classroom wasn't working for me. I spent last summer scavenging storage rooms and old supplies for furniture that I could use to create work spaces for my students. The set up has been a great success this year, however, some of the furniture that was worn out when I began using it is literally on its last leg. I feel students will give me their best work when I set high expectations and they have a suitable place to learn, explore, and create. I am trying to create a classroom in which students are taught that learning to work with others is just as important as the content I teach. Please consider donating to phase 1 of my plan to create a collaborative classroom for my students.
